The present study explores teacher emotions, in particular how they are predicted by students' behaviour and the interpersonal aspect of the teacher-student relationship (TSR). One hundred thirty-two ...secondary teachers participated in a quantitative study relying on self-report questionnaire data. Based on the model of teacher emotions by Frenzel (2014), teachers rated their experienced joy, anger and anxiety during classroom instruction (dependent variable). Students' motivational behaviour (= engagement), socio-emotional behaviour (= discipline in class) and relational behaviour (= closeness; interpersonal TSR) were assessed as the independent variables. Teachers' self-efficacy beliefs served as a control variable. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that the interpersonal relationship formed between teachers and students was the strongest predictor for teachers' joy (positive relation) and anxiety (negative relation), whereas lack of discipline in class best predicted teachers' anger experiences. Students' engagement also proved a significant predictor of teacher emotions. The results suggest that interpersonal TSR plays a particularly important role in teachers' emotional experiences in class.
Objective
The purpose of this study was to explore how vulnerabilities, stressors, and adaptive processes influenced early adults' (N = 1,073) future relational desires and topic preferences in ...relationship education (RE).
Background
There is great diversity in pathways to relationship formation. Early adults are exposed to risk factors from their past and present relationship experiences that can influence their current and future relational functioning. Thus, there is an increasing need to provide individually relevant relationship education services to ultimately help early adults navigate these diverse relationship processes and transitions. To ensure relevant and successful programing, relationship educators need to consider early adults' future relational preferences and variations in early adults' interest in specific areas of RE content.
Methods
Combining data from a nationally representative sample (N = 436) and a snowball sample (N = 637), we collected information on various risk factors for relationship distress early adults had observed or experienced, demographic information, and current relationship status to identify not only future relational desires but also interest in RE topics.
Results
Results indicated that early adults are concurrently experiencing many risks that influence their future relational desires and interests in specific RE topics.
Conclusion
We demonstrate how each risk factor independently influences an early adult's future relational desires and interest in RE topics, while also highlighting the cumulative effect of risk factors on these outcomes.
Implications
Implications highlight tailoring functions within RE to increase interest and engagement and more precisely address specific participant stressors and vulnerabilities.

As important as it is that teachers care about the students in their classroom and build positive relationships with them, the topic did not receive a great deal of attention from authors in Kappan ...in its early years. But by the 1990s, authors began writing regularly about why teachers should care about students and how they can demonstrate that care by building positive relationships with them. The zones of proximity traversed in Multispecies Modernity link animal-human relations to a politics of postcolonial identity by transgressing the logics of modernity imposed on the postcolonial nation. Disorderly multispecies living is a resistance to the hygiene of modernity and a powerful alliance between human and nonhuman subalterns.

This study ...examined the specific role of parental monitoring and of family relationships (mother, father, and sibling) that are all critical to the deterrence of problem behavior in early adolescence. The study sample comprised 179 ethnically diverse 6th-grade (46% female) students who were followed through 8th grade. Results indicated that parental monitoring and father-youth connectedness were associated with reductions in problem behavior over time, and conflict with siblings was linked with increases in problem behaviors. No associations were found for mother-youth connectedness. These findings did not differ for boys and for girls, or for families with resident or nonresident fathers.
