The text focuses on the analysis and interpretation of the poem 'Bat Country on LCD' by Leszek Onak, which is a new media, subversive processing of 'Lament 1' – one of the threnodies by Jan ...Kochanowski, the work which is well‑established in the literary tradition. Due to the processes mentioned above, Kochanowski’s poem has been subject to a rapid and radical generative transformation. The authors emphasise that the work of Onak differs significantly from the previous artistic acts of Kochanowski’s followers because Onak grounds his creative strategy in the references to the sphere of new technologies, hybridisation processes, the programming language and, first of all, he uses the subversive remix and mash‑up strategies, which results in a radical change of both, the situation of artistic communication and the reception behaviours.

Sammendrag Mange av dagens internettplattformer bruker automatiske og algoritmiske verktøy for å gjenkjenne og moderere uønsket innhold, inkludert det som blir ansett for å krenke opphavsretten. ...Denne artikkelen undersøker hvordan slike gjenkjenningsprosedyrer påvirker mashup-musikk – en form for remiks som baserer seg på å kombinere (uautoriserte) utdrag av tidligere, gjenkjennelige musikkinnspillinger. På bakgrunn av intervjuer (n = 30) og en spørreundersøkelse (n = 92) med mashup-produsenter, viser vi at disse gjenkjenningsprosedyrene påvirker produsentenes kreative beslutninger og distribusjonsstrategier, og at de har en betydelig, negativ innvirkning på produsentenes generelle motivasjon for å lage mashup-musikk. Produsentenes innvendinger mot denne situasjonen vinner en viss gjenklang i de juridiske unntakene fra opphavsretten. Vi argumenterer imidlertid for at disse unntakene, som utgjør en juridisk «gråsone», ikke er lagt tilstrekkelig til rette for av plattformene. Plattformenes politisk-økonomiske makt gjør det dermed mulig for dem å «okkupere» og kontrollere denne gråsonen. Som en konsekvens er den praktiske anvendelsen av opphavsrettens unntak i denne settingen betydelig redusert.

In this paper, I examine the views of contemporary aesthetician of music Stephen Davies about musical transcription as a special form of classical music and try to apply his theoretical views to ...remixing as a musical practice that is primarily related to contemporary electronic music. Using the theoretical approaches of Davies’ aesthetics of music, I point out the similarities between the creative attitudes of a musician in transcribing and remixing, similarities that can be found in the way these musical forms relate to the original composition on which transcriptions or remixes are based. Comparisons between transcription and remix are further investigated by considering the various roles that these musical practices fulfill in various cultural contexts.
