What happens when a state is dissatisfied with its status quo or perceives its decline on the international stage? What variables determine the nature, degree and extent of a country's revisionist ...threat? A preliminary distinction between status quo and revisionist powers lies in the opposite tendency to either strengthen or threaten the distribution of power and goods, international rules and territorial order. Drawing on these premises, a new typology of revisionism is proposed based on four variables: power capabilities, objectives of the revisionist policy, the means employed and the level of action. The aim is to develop a theoretical framework that can identify and differentiate between past and present types of revisionism through an interpretative grid that takes into account not only the factors that are already known (for example, objectives and means) but also the link between power capabilities, objectives and the level of action. It will thus be possible to explain the difference between the current Russian and Chinese revisionist policies.

U članku se razmatra razlika između povijesne znanosti i politikā povijesti kao poddiscipline političke znanosti koja se bavi načinima i oblicima suočavanja suvremenih država i društava s ...traumatičnim i „mračnim” događajima i razdobljima nacionalnih povijesti. Jedan je način suočavanja s njima povijesni revizionizam kao ideološki i politički motivirano nastojanje da se reinterpretiraju postojeća znanstvena tumačenja te, posljedično, ublaži ili izbriše „zla prošlost”. No povijesni revizionizam označuje i legitimnu metodu reinterpretacije povijesti koja se temelji na novim spoznajama stečenim znanstvenim istraživanjima. Razliku između tih dvaju značenja povijesnoga revizionizma autorica prikazuje na primjerima Njemačke i Izraela. U hrvatskoj historiografiji, povijesnoj i političkoj publicistici nakon 1990. prevladavali su pokušaji ideološki i politički motivirane revizije povijesti Nezavisne Države Hrvatske.
Abstract A widespread belief in the field of international relations (IR) is that the first years of the discipline were characterized by a liberal “idealist” theoretical dominance followed by the ...so-called “first great debate,” in which the “idealist” school was intellectually surpassed by a realist tradition. The purpose of this article is to join previous revisionist studies and challenge this conventional narrative. Building primarily on the international thought and work of Norman Angell on imperialism, this article reveals that there was an important intellectual contest preceding the denominated “first great debate.” It also shows that even though Angell was not a Marxist, his figure discloses Marxism as an important theoretical force in the genesis of the discipline.

This article proposes an exam of the political and historiographic ideas which J. Francisco V. Silva (Cordoba, Argentina, 1890-1978) poured into his intellectual intervention conducive to an ...explanationof the grounds of the “territorial dismemberment” of Argentina and the former Rio de la Plata Viceroyalty since 1810. It is an attempt to comprehend the mentioned textuality in the light of the context of the First World War and in articulation withthe revitalization of the Hispanic past in the American continent, which many intellectuals from such situational context proposed in opposition to the narratives by the liberal history bequeathed from the 20th century. In that respect, this work focusseson a reading of the way in which Silva represents an axis which is sensitive to the revisionist imagination, such as the dismemberment of the former Viceroyalty, and his methodological fashion of dealing with it, explaining the relevance of geography and history from a residual positivism, when conceiving the former as an equivalent to the physical environment which models the racial type and the latter as a process by means of which the social determinations are made.

In this path it thematizes the debate on continuity/rupture in the history of Italy and mentions the debate on the biography of Mussolini by Renzo De Felice and the matter of historiographical revisionism on fascism.
Este artigo propõe um estudo sobre a intensificação de discursos nacionalistas na sociedade japonesa a partir da década de 1990. Uma visão influente tende a ver esse fenômeno como reação ao ambiente ...de crise econômica na sociedade japonesa desde os anos de 1990. O objetivo deste trabalho é repensar essa interpretação, ressaltando que o discurso nacionalista atual tem uma lógica que pode ser compreendida mais adequadamente se levarmos em consideração não apenas a crise recente, mas a posição dessa crise no contexto mais amplo das transformações ocorridas ao longo do período posterior à Segunda Guerra Mundial. Através de um diálogo com alguns dos principais teóricos japoneses atuais, este trabalho irá propor uma interpretação em que o nacionalismo surge não como mera reação a uma situação pontual, mas como um processo mais longo e complexo de formação, apropriação e ressignificação de discursos bastante diversos e mesmo contraditórios.

Seerah of the Prophet falls mainly under Orientalist studies evolving from an early skeptical normative to revisionism, higher criticism, biblical literary criticism and Hagarism. This perpetual ...change of Western academic methodology seems to indicate their fragile and non-traditional academic approach. The Orientalists like Goldziher and Schacht have been able to transform skeptical theories considerably to the extent ‘revisionist’ theories have emerged. In this paper, a critical review of modern Western critique has been discussed while conjecturing about its lacunas at the same time.
