Sim Gill's photograph "Isolation" captures Kensington Park Gardens in London during the third national lockdown in the UK. On Mar 23, 2020, the UK's prime minister issued a stark directive: "You must ...stay at home." Within a mere twenty-four hours, their daily routines and rituals were cast into uncertainty, their usual distractions temporarily vanished, leaving them with existential queries about what lay ahead, the duration of this new reality, and when normalcy might return. For numerous individuals, this marked their first encounter with a paradigm-shifting global event, encompassing remote work and social distancing, as well as upending familiar habitual practices. On reflection, it is important that their narratives surrounding this period respect and reflect a framework that honestly captures the incompleteness and tensions of this unprecedented moment.
To explore the historical connections between Confucianism and Chinese society, this book examines the social and cultural processes through which Confucian texts on family rituals were written, ...circulated, interpreted, and used as guides to action. Weddings, funerals, and ancestral rites were central features of Chinese culture; they gave drama to transitions in people's lives and conveyed conceptions of the hierarchy of society and the interdependency of the living and the dead. Patricia Ebrey's social history of Confucian texts shows much about how Chinese culture was created in a social setting, through the participation of people at all social levels. Books, like Chu Hsi's Family Rituals and its dozens of revisions, were important in forming ritual behavior in China because of the general respect for literature, the early spread of printing, and the absence of an ecclesiastic establishment authorized to rule on the acceptability of variations in ritual behavior. Ebrey shows how more and more of what people commonly did was approved in the liturgies and thus brought into the realm labeled Confucian.

The Role of Easter Dyed Eggs in Ukrainian Rituals
The article describes the phenomenon of one of the oldest and most significant fields of Ukrainian folk art ‒ Ukrainian Easter dyed eggs, represents ...the mythical origins of Easter dyed eggs, explains the process of making decorated eggs and highlights their role in Ukrainian folk ceremonies, mainly spring and Easter rites and traditions. In purpose to demonstrate the phenomenon of Ukrainian painted eggs, the author formulates a hypothesis from which it follows that the Easter dyed egg plays a very important role in Ukrainian rituals, both pagan springtime and Christian Easter. The article refers to the achievements of Ukrainian researchers in this area of study, notably the scientific studies of Mykoly Sumcova, Erasta Biniashevskiego, Vasylia Sapigi, Oleksy Voropaja and others.
Konstruktivistische Ansätze haben seit langem auf die Notwendigkeit hingewiesen, die Beziehung zwischen Identität und Differenz bei der Bildung und Aufrechterhaltung von Sicherheitsgemeinschaften wie ...der North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) besser zu verstehen. Aufbauend auf Émile Durkheims Ritualtheorie argumentiere ich, dass der soziale Zusammenhalt in einer Sicherheitsgemeinschaft auf rituellen Aktivitäten beruht, und zwar gerade dann, wenn kein politischer Konsens besteht. In diesem Beitrag möchte ich Durkheims ursprüngliche Erkenntnisse über die Rolle des Rituals bei der Schaffung von Solidarität nutzen, indem ich zeige, dass der Zusammenhalt der NATO weniger auf der Homogenität der Überzeugungen ihrer Mitglieder beruht als auf dem „Wir-Gefühl“ während eines Rituals. Anhand der transatlantischen Sicherheitsgemeinschaft entwickle ich zunächst einen theoretisch-konzeptionellen Rahmen, der erklärt, wie Rituale Solidarität zwischen den NATO-Mitgliedstaaten erzeugen. Das Argument wird dann durch eine empirische Fallstudie zur rituellen Rekonstruktion der Solidarität durch die NATO nach dem Irakkrieg 2003 veranschaulicht.
O estudo realizado junto ao grupo Jongo de Pinheiral, na antiga Fazenda Pinheiros, no Vale do Paraíba (RJ), revelou que seus integrantes mantêm uma relação afetiva entre si e têm um histórico de ...lutas sociais marcado por gestualidades ligadas à dança. Com base nesses dados, apresento, neste artigo, uma análise do ritual praticado por jongueiros e umbandistas dedicado a "passagem para o outro plano" dos espíritos que habitam a fazenda. Para isso, mobilizo os estudos da antropóloga Marlene Cunha no campo dos gestos e postura no candomblé Angola. A análise permite a compreensão dos gestos preliminares, liminares e pós-liminares do ritual.

Encarando el inevitable problema de la complejidad de estos temas que se mueven entre la devoción individual, la manifestación social, el juego de símbolos reinterpretados desde distintas fronteras, ...la identidad colectiva y el milagro individual, la autora nos advierte que la religión es un constante ir y venir entre el adentro y afuera. La religiosidad popular es una apuesta de fe de marcado carácter temporal, las necesidades materiales no pueden resolverse desde la lejanía de las condiciones históricamente situadas del individuo y sus circunstancias; por ello, en numerosas ocasiones la razón no opera en estas expresiones, pues el milagro popular tiene lugar cuando la razón no es capaz de dar cuenta de la propia subsistencia, y sin embargo se subsiste; el milagro es la ocurrencia contra toda posibilidad de aquello que al ocurrir desgarra la lógica y los límites de la posibilidad; así, tiene que ver con el sentimiento, el sentido, las razones profundas del ser y permanecer, lo cual se cifra invariablemente desde una coordenada individual, focalizada y contextualizada particularmente. Gilberto Giménez y las ideas que vertiera en Cultura popular y religión en el Anáhuac/ donde encontramos la primera aproximación teórica en las ciencias sociales en México que intentaba explicar este fenómeno partiendo de un contexto ritual concreto y -sobre todo- buscando la lógica inherente al mismo, lo cual implica considerar los fenómenos religiosos populares desde la singularidad de su configuración cultural, social e histórica. Más que una sumisión a una voluntad eterna externa a esta realidad material, quienes nos dedicamos a estudiar estos fenómenos percibimos desde la observación etnográfica, una apuesta por la solución inmediata a las necesidades inmanentes donde la voluntad del ente sagrado trata de ser persuadida para que coincida con la voluntad del suplicante.

L’article se centre sur plusieurs des aspects relationnels et métapsychologiques particulièrement mobilisés lors des entretiens préliminaires avec les patients que l’auteur qualifie de ...« difficiles ». On montrera que la compréhension qu’on peut tirer d’enjeux économiques et narcissiques au coeur des problématiques psychiques représentées par ces patients permet de mieux établir l’indication du dispositif thérapeutique qui sera le plus approprié dans leurs cas, et facilite l’inscription de leur demande d’aide. Seront également évoqués les mérites, en termes de compréhension clinique, des rencontres évaluatives tenues en présence d’un groupe d’analystes.
