Auxiliary machinery is used at the open-pit coal mine (machines: bulldozers, trench excavators, pipe-laying machines,...) for performance of auxiliary work (excavation, construction of route, ...) in ...order to provide an uninterrupted operation of the basic machinery for excavation of waste rock and coal. Machines are moving from one area of the open-pit to another. Movement of machines along the open-pit is limited space-wise by conveyor belts serving for conveyance of waste rocks and coal, including other natural obstructions (steep slopes, mud, water). These obstructions affect the open-pit machines' length of trajectory, duration of movement and consumption of fuel. Observing the said problem, a model for optimizing the "movement" of open-pit auxiliary machinery has been developed and applied with ICT, namely GPS/GPRS and appropriate software solution, as presented herein. Model determines the "shortest" path of the machine to the job which can result in significant fuel savings and reducing failures of machines.
In cases when there is no ability to use different intrusive methods for the counting of traffic volume usually a non-intrusive method is used – manual observation using tally sheets. This method of ...data collection has the following drawbacks: expenses for the decoding of handwritten symbols from the tally sheets; expenses for data input into the database; observers can be irresponsible, etc. In the article a software solution which helps to solve some of the mentioned drawbacks is presented. The requirements for the software solution and software's architecture are presented. The solution consists of three main components: 1) web application – space for project manager for a project configuration, managing observation areas, observers and data exporting; 2) mobile application – application from which an observer can send data about traffic flow volume the system; 3) API – application program interface for communication between the mobile application and the server. The software solution has been implemented and tested for a real problem solution. The paper presents the results of testing, the advantages/disadvantages of the offered solution and directions of future development.

The paper presents the steps and the algorithm used to create a software for designing a solar photovoltaic application by using a programming environment in an accessible way, which provides after ...some calculations of all the checking required an accurate information regarding the number of series and parallel solar photovoltaic panels, currents and voltages at the string combiners, and active power flows at the photovoltaic solar panels and inverters. Due to the large number of parameters involved in the design and calculations of a solar photovoltaic application the proposal of a software solution design that allows an easy tracking of these parameters and produces a series of iterative calculations leading to the optimal solution is welcomed.

U današnje vrijeme izraženih poremećaja u lancima dobave zbog niza nepovoljnih okolnosti kao što su ratna zbivanja, prirodne nepogode i nestašica sirovina i energenata, adekvatno upravljanje nabavom ...jedno je od ključnih ciljeva koji nastoji postići gotovo svaki poduzetnik odnosno poduzeće. Cilj ovog rada je prikazati primjenu metode dinamičkog programiranja za rješavanje problema nabave te prezentirati programsko rješenje izrađeno za rješavanje problema nabave primjenom navedene metode. Dinamičko programiranje je specijalna matematička metoda koja se koristi za probleme optimizacije sustava na način da se identificirani problem rastavi na više jednostavnijih potproblema. U radu su također prezentirane funkcionalnosti izrađene programske aplikacije s ugrađenim algoritmom dinamičkog programiranja na primjeru rješavanja problema nabave jednog prijeko potrebnog proizvoda u projektno orijentiranom poduzeću. Korištenje dinamičkog programiranja kao alata i programske podrške može poslužiti u rješavanju različite klase problema vezanih uz adekvatno upravljanje zalihama obzirom da pruža detaljan uvid u stanje zaliha čime je znatno olakšano planiranje nabave i uvid u moguće troškove povezane s nabavom.
The Electronic Caseload Analysis Tool (eCAT) is a knowledge-based software tool to assist the caseload analysis process. The tool provides a wide range of graphical reports, along with an integrated ...clinical advisor, to assist district nurses, team leaders, operational and strategic managers with caseload analysis by describing, comparing and benchmarking district nursing practice in the context of population need, staff resources, and service structure. District nurses and clinical lead nurses in Northern Ireland developed the tool, along with academic colleagues from the University of Ulster, working in partnership with a leading software company. The aim was to use the eCAT tool to identify the nursing need of local populations, along with the variances in district nursing practice, and match the workforce accordingly. This article reviews the literature, describes the eCAT solution and discusses the impact of eCAT on nursing practice, staff allocation, service delivery and workforce planning, using fictitious exemplars and a post-implementation evaluation from the trusts.

La forte parallélisation des applications MPSoC accroît le besoin d'optimisation des mécanismes de synchronisation, primordiaux pour l'échange sûr d'informations entre processus. En effet, les délais ...qu'ils introduisent impactent les performances globales des MPSoC. L'objet de cette thèse est d'étudier puis d'optimiser les performances temporelles de ces mécanismes de synchronisation.La complexité croissante des MPSoC impose l'étude précise des mécanismes ciblés dans un environnement réaliste mettant en exergue les spécificités logicielles et matérielles.Les outils de mesures disponibles ne répondant pas à nos exigences de précision conjuguée à la vitesse d'analyse, nous avons conçu notre propre chaîne de mesure non intrusive reposant sur une plateforme d'émulation.Appliquée à l'étude de l'implémentation GNU du mécanisme de barrière de synchronisation offert par la bibliothèque d'aide à la parallélisation de code OpenMP, notre chaîne de mesure a mis en évidence deux faiblesses d'implémentation, aboutissant à la mise en place d'optimisations logicielles et matérielles réduisant de manière significative les délais de ce mécanisme.La chaîne de mesure développée nous a également permis de vérifier une hypothèse structurante pour l'optimisation : un verrou, bien qu'utilisé par plusieurs cœurs de différentes grappes au cours de l'application, est très souvent repris par le dernier cœur l'ayant libéré. Sur la base de ce constat, nous proposons une solution innovante assurant, de manière totalement décentralisée, la relocalisation dynamique des verrous dans la mémoire proche du cœur ayant obtenu l'accès. Cela permet de réduire la latence d'accès et le trafic réseau lors de la réutilisation d'un verrou par une même grappe.
High parallelism of MPSoC applications increase the need of optimization for the synchronization mechanisms, essential to ensure consistent data exchanges between threads. Delays inserted by them impact the whole performances of the system. This thesis work aims to analyze and reduce delays of synchronization mechanisms for MPSoC architectures.The growing complexity of MPSoCs requires assessment of proposed optimizations against hardware and software specifics in real-life environment. Since usual tools to perform measurements do not fulfill required accuracy with sufficient evaluation speed, we have designed a custom non-intrusive tool-chain based on an emulation platform.The study of the textit{GNU} OpenMP library implementation of the synchronization barriers, carried out with our tool-chain, has revealed two weaknesses. Our proposed hardware and software optimizations achieve significant reduction of the delays introduced by the synchronization barrier.The designed tool-chain has also allowed us to confirm a fundamental hypothesis for the optimization of the lock mechanism : although during the run time a lock may be used by various cores belonging to different clusters, it is often reused by the last core which has released it. Based on this observation, we propose an innovative decentralized solution to manage dynamic re-homing of locks in memory close to the last access-granted core, thus reducing access latency and network traffic in case of reuse of the lock by the same cluster.

Big Data Analytics For Synchrophasors (BigSync) is an offline engineering analysis software solution developed at Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad. The software solution allows the user to do ...post-event analysing utilising synchrophasor measurements of the power system. The software package includes applications such as signal trending, angle difference monitoring, event detection, transient stability prediction, fault diagnosis and inertia distribution monitoring. This paper details the applicability of offline engineering software solutions in operationalizing wide area measurement system(WAMS) solutions in the control room. Further, the applications integrated in BigSync are also demonstrated.
