Many hardware solutions for Power over Ethernet (PoE) Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) exist, with slightly varying feature sets. A software solution is needed for interaction with the PSEs, and for ...managing a power budget across several PSEs. A generic interface is desirable, as well as generic software components that can be used in support of several PSE solutions. In this paper we present a union of features and real-time requirements for three hardware solutions, and the development of a generic software architecture.

The contribution describes an interactive computer implementation of the Monte Carlo method for particular purposes - to diagnose the foot condition according to the footprint of a person, to ...recognise the flat foot. Monte Carlo method, with a combination of computer graphics and numerical mathematics, allows us to calculate an unknown area where a direct analytical solution does not exist, or we do not know it. It is widely used, for example, in quickly finding approximate results of various calculations, such as calculating a definite integral, determining the probabilities of events in individual events, empirically determining the value, cost estimates in certain situations, and so on. It is an empirical-numerical method based on the use of values of random variables and probability theory. Our goal was to implement a general-purpose interactive software that will allow by the Monte Carlo method to determine the content of any irregular area in the form of a digital image. The presented software is implemented in Java using the programming framework GRobot. The graphic user interface is characteristic of this framework and is suitable for this type of applications. The Monte Carlo method forms a thematic unit of the subject of modelling and simulation at universities. It is often also the topic of students' semester, competition, and final theses. The beginnings of the editor described here also goes back to the semester, later diploma thesis of a student of computer science teacher programme at the Faculty of Education of the Trnava University in Trnava. The mentioned projects were developed under the guidance and significant help of the authors of this article.
The paper deals with all the resources and factors that determineor influence to any extent the technological process ofstaff of train rostering. The Timetable, Train Traction andTraction Vehicle ...Maintenance Sector and the legal regulationsstipulate the basic parameters for rostering and these are explained. The paper also analyses the contents and the methodof producing the rostering plan which shows all the practicaldrawbacks and the limiting factors that influence significantlythe possibility of corrections in order to improve the utilisationlevel of the staff of train. A model has been developed with thepresentation of the factors that influence the staff of train rostering. The paper also shows the project of a software solutionfor the staff of train rostering with the defined and explainedClipper program.
One of the fundamental questions in the business activity of service providers is how to allocate existing resources in a WAN computer network in order to meet customers’ requirements and manage the ...bandwidth effectively. The aim of the current paper is to compare the effectiveness of software and hardware-based bandwidth allocation solutions in real-life situations. In Sect. 1, bandwidth allocation solutions selected for the test are introduced. Section 2 addresses costs that an internet provider had to sustain in order to implement individual solutions. Section 3 summarizes installation and configuration issues. In Sect. 4 performance levels achieved are assessed, while in Sect. 5 – additional capabilities and statistics are discussed. The article is concluded with a tabular comparison of discussed approaches.
Conceptual modelling is the addition of more real-world semantics to the computations performed by a computer. It is argued that in a proper engineering approach to computing, three kinds of ...conceptual modelling need to be distinguished, (1) modelling a software solution, (2) modelling the domain in which it operates, and (3) modelling the impact of the software solution on the domain. Nearly 40 years of research in conceptual modelling has yielded a wealth of concepts and notations for conceptual modelling of the second variety, which we call domain-oriented. A summary and framework of these results are presented. Conceptual modelling of the third variety, which we call impact-oriented, has been developed less. A framework for this is provided too, and promising directions for impact-oriented conceptual modelling are identified.
This article is devoted to the construction of a hardware-software solution for testing relay protection devices in a closed Dommel loop 1. A flexible solution is proposed for the use of hardware ...OMICRON CMC-356 2 together with the developed software that implements the models of electrical network elements in the Real-time controller NI cRio-9025 3 using LabVIEW Real-Time and LabVIEW FPGA. An algorithm for the functioning of programs and devices for the implementation of a closed loop testing of triggering devices of digital relay protection is proposed. A practical experiment was carried out to simulate a short circuit on a power transmission line in real time on a model and to generate the obtained model data by the OMICRON CMC-356 device.
Medical doctors working in hospitals should spend their working time taking care of the patients. However, in the Spanish hospitals, they also play the role of decision makers being involved, for ...example, in scheduling surgeries in operation rooms. Although some doctors might be doing this for a long time, which give them experience in such decisions, the efficiency of the operation room can be improved with the help of some technical solutions that are the result of advance research in planning and scheduling surgeries. Such technical solutions can also decrease the overtime hours and reduce the under/over utilization of some operating rooms. This paper's focus is to create such a solution that will help medical doctors to spend less time in managing tasks and have a better occupancy rate within the available capacity of the operation room. It will also decrease the stress level and allow the medical doctors to offer more of their time to healthcare. The contributions of this paper are: (i) a new heuristic algorithm for scheduling operations that do not require the use of any optimization tool, (ii) an in-built managing system for patients and operation rooms in the Operating Theater, and (iii) simulation results using real data in the proposed software tool. The created interface is intuitive and developed with direct feedback from doctors allowing different access level, for a better security of the medical data.
Software design and its engineering is crucial for the scientific software impact. Successful, comprehensive,
flexible, futuristic and on demand, software development can only be achieved, if the ...system is properly designed, following
the software engineering principles, modelling approaches and implementation life cycles. This paper briefly identifies
and discusses that how can we overcome the major issues turning into the deficiencies during the effective software
development life cycle execution, human computer interaction design and in choosing the technologies, especially when
we are developing agile prototype scientific solutions in academia, without much resources and informatics background.
Most of the existing software modelling approaches are complex and suffer from design short comings though their impact
depends on professional, user friendly, sustainable and high quality solution. Meeting the hypothetical goals of this
research, paper discusses a newly proposed science oriented approach 'Butterfly'; simple, accumulative way of combining
different benefiting aspects of the various software developmental models together with the missing elements, towards the
abridged way of acceptance for the betterment of modelling of the scientific software solutions in academia by targeting
key developmental points: intuitive, graphical user interface design, stable methodical implementation and comprehensive
output presentation. Furthermore in this paper a comparative, measurement based analysis of different software development
approaches is performed and concluded results justifies the significance of Butterfly model, and different related patents
are discussed.

The soft targets and crowded places are closely related with a risk of assaults. Between the experts are the soft targets known as objects with similar characteristics. Between characteristics of ...soft targets belong a considerable number of persons at the same time in the same area. In addition, this object has not implemented the adequate security and safety measures to the processes. This proposal of the analytical tool of the software solution was developed for assessing the current state of the objects. Between the objects are buildings or events. The main aim of the proposed methodology is to support operators in the decision-making process and improve security to the soft targets. This methodology is designed to evaluate the security situations of the soft targets. This methodology is based on the object's comparison and incident's characteristics. The main aim of this software is the analysis of the object's features, and according to these features, the software can define the security measures.
