Health information sources and the level of trust in a particular source may influence the subsequent adoption of advocated health behaviors. Information source preference and levels of trust are ...also likely to be influenced by sociodemographic (culture, age, gender) variables. Understanding these source-trust-behavior relationships across various national and cultural contexts is integral to improved health messaging. The present study identified the sources most frequently consulted to obtain information about COVID-19 during the pandemic's early stages in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The study quantified levels of trust across an array of information sources, factoring in sociodemographic variables. Finally, the study explored the relationship between sociodemographic variables, levels of trust in information sources, and the adoption of COVID-19 related protective behaviors. Participants (
= 1585) were recruited during the first 2 weeks of April 2020 via announcements in the UAE media and through email networks. All participants completed a web-based survey presented in English or Arabic, as preferred. The most frequently consulted information sources were websites (health information websites), social media, government communications, and family and friends. The sources rated most trustworthy were: personal physicians, health care professionals, and government communications. There were differences in the use of sources and levels of trust according to age, gender, and education. The levels of trust in sources of information were associated with the adoption of protective behaviors, significantly so for citizens of the UAE. These findings may help inform the improvement of pandemic-related health messaging in multicultural contexts.
Smart Farming Technologies (SFTs) can improve production output while minimising costs and preserving resources; however, they are scarcely adopted by farmers. In the present study, the factors ...affecting farmers' intentions to adopt two types of SFTs (Type 1: drones, sensors for data acquisition and automatic download, and agricultural apps; Type 2: agricultural robots and autonomous machines) were investigated within the framework of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), considering the role played by different sources of information, Perceived Ease of Use (PEU), and Perceived Usefulness (PU). A questionnaire assessing the PEU and PU of the two types of SFTs, farmers' previous exposure to different impersonal and personal (formal and informal) sources of information, and farmers' intentions to adopt SFTs was administered to a sample of Italian farmers (n = 314). A mediated model, built on the TAM, showed that the PU affected farmers’ intention to adopt a technology and that personal sources of information, both formal and informal, affected the PU; however, while formal sources increased the PU, informal sources decreased the PU. The model was invariant across the two types of SFTs considered. The implications for the proposal of new technologies are discussed.
•Factors driving the intention to adopt Smart Farming Technologies were assessed in a group of Italian farmers.•The role of sources of information, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use was considered.•Formal personal sources of information were the most effective lever for change in the SFTs domain.•This effect was mediated by perceived usefulness.•Advisory systems providing knowledge and access to innovation resources for different types of farmers are needed.

One of the key strategies to stop the increase of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases is vaccines. The uncertainty and refusal of Filipinos to get the COVID-19 vaccine will be a crucial barrier ...to achieve the immunization coverage required for population protection. Thus, this study was conducted to determine the knowledge and attitude of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology students and faculty and staff towards the COVID-19 vaccine. A descriptive study approach and total sampling were adopted. A questionnaire was constructed to accumulate data on the respondents' profile, knowledge, attitude and source of information about the vaccine for COVID-19. Informed consent and permission to conduct were acquired. Various statistical tools were used to analyze the data. The respondents were knowledgeable and had positive attitude towards the COVID-19 vaccine. Their primary source of information was from social media on the internet and television. There is a positive association between their attitude and knowledge of the COVID-19 vaccine, which means that they are closer to having a positive attitude when they are knowledgeable about the COVID-19 vaccine. Therefore, health education campaigns to increase their knowledge or awareness about the COVID-19 vaccine should encourage them to receive a COVID-19 vaccine shot.
Background: Mass Drug Administration (MDA) is a strategy to eliminate lymphatic filariasis (LF) in endemic areas. However, individuals' decision to take LF drugs in MDA is associated with their ...knowledge and awareness about LF. This study examined the association between the community’s level of knowledge and awareness about LF with the number of informant types and media types for LF information in Waihaong and Air Salobar Health Centers, Ambon City, Indonesia.
Methodology: We used data from a household survey conducted in January 2019 involving 944 respondents aged 18-70 living in the study sites. Data analysis was performed using multivariable logistic regression.
Results: We found that only 33.3% of respondents had a high level of knowledge and awareness about LF. An increased odds of having a high level of knowledge and awareness about LF was associated with respondents receiving information from more than one type of informant and one type of media (aOR=10.55, 95%CI: 2.35-47.37, p=0.002), and among female respondents (aOR=1.92, 95%CI: 1.25-2.94).
Conclusions: These findings emphasize the importance of comprehensive health promotion strategies using different types of informants and media to enhance the community's knowledge and awareness about LF, which is important to support the elimination of LF in Ambon City, Indonesia.
This paper presents an overview of relevant sources for the study of the development of the “Catalan Health Model” during the twentieth century, and the ideas and institutions influencing its ...evolution. The paper indicates that it is a health system configuration where the core is public universal health assistance, complemented by the private health sector. Also, that it is the result of a dynamic traditional mixed model organization. The sources for the study of this health system are scattered in public or private archives and published reports. Due to the disruptions of war and periods of dictatorship, the model has gaps or becomes disjointed.
This paper aims to further our understanding of how the degrees of innovation novelty and innovation failure are connected. It argues that a better understanding of the specific predictors of ...innovation novelty and failure would improve our understanding of the innovation process and inform R&D managerial interventions to reduce the occurrences of failure and enhance radical innovation. This investigation draws on data on 5387 Spanish manufacturing firms from the 2009 Spanish Community Innovation Survey (CIS). Unlike prior studies which examine product innovation, degree of innovation novelty, and innovation failures in separate models, this study relies on a multivariate model to account for the extent to which these outcomes are interdependent. Overall, the results indicate that innovation effort and innovation failure are closely linked, especially if the innovation involves a significant level of novelty. These interdependencies are problematic since firms aspire to higher propensity for innovation and novelty; however, this higher propensity is accompanied by a higher probability of failure. Our empirical results identify a number of factors that contribute to enhancing innovation novelty while also attenuating the probability of innovation failure. These factors are: (i) R&D employees, (ii) research and institutional sources of information, (iii) contracting external R&D, and (iv) corporate social responsibility practices.
•Innovation success and innovation failure are closely linked phenomena.•We analyze a sample of Spanish manufacturing firms.•We identify factors that foster innovation while minimize risk of failure.•These factors are R&D employees, research and institutional sources, R&D contracting and corporate social responsibility.

Purpose
Social media has become the new information acquisition platform for all content producers. In the current literature, there are no studies examining the content quality and the strengths and ...weaknesses of videos on Instagram that explain anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, which is the most discussed topic of sports surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality, strengths and weaknesses of information pertaining to ACL surgery that is disseminated on Instagram.
Method
An Instagram search was conducted from 30 May 2023 to 30 January 2024. The search encompassed six languages (English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Turkish) and was performed by six different observers. The investigation focused on eight subheadings derived from current literature on the ACL. These subheadings were addressed in Instagram videos, covering ACL biology or biomechanics, injury mechanism, injury prevention, injury evaluation, surgical technique, injury or surgery complications, injury rehabilitation process and return to sport or work.
Result
The content was assessed of 127 videos from 127 Instagram accounts, spanning six different languages. Across the review of eight subheadings, the average number covered for the entire group was 3 (range, 0–8). Further analysis revealed that surgical technique was the most frequently mentioned subheading for the whole group (68.5%), followed by injury evaluation (54.3%). Prevention (10.2%) and complications (19.6%) were the least mentioned subheadings. The number of followers showed a correlation with video content quality.
Conclusion
Although the video quality scores were found to be moderate, the content often focused on surgery and evaluation subheadings. The prevalence of incomplete information underscores the importance of developing strategies to ensure more comprehensive and accurate dissemination of medical knowledge.
