The objective of this study is to examine the relationship among different sources of renewable energy, role of technology, environment protection and economic growth. This study uses panel annual ...data set of selected BRICS countries from 1997 to 2019. This study uses the Augmented Mean Group (AMG) estimator, a second-generation estimator that takes slope homogeneity and cross-sectional dependence into consideration. For robustness, the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) estimator has also been utilized. The findings show that the use of renewable energy will rise as income inequality declines. The results of the analysis demonstrate a one-way causal association between income inequality and REC. This finding confirms that a reduction in income inequality will have a major impact on the adoption of renewable energy sources.
•The significant long-run relationship exists between CO2 and REC.•There is bi-directional causality between income inequality and REC.•Results show that renewable energy consumption parameters in different ways.

Atmospheric pollutants, mainly produced by thermal power plants compel to utilize green energy sources such as renewable energy sources and hydroelectric plants in a power system. But due to blinking ...behavior of sources of renewable energy and due to very high rate of outages, it has a detrimental consequence on overall grid. Demand side management (DSM) programs decrease cost and improve power system security. This study proposes non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II) to solve multi-objective scheduling of generation for fixed head hydro-thermal system integrating pumped hydro energy storage and sources of renewable energy taking into consideration the outage and uncertainty in presence of DSM. Numerical results of the test system attained using the proposed technique were compared with strength pareto evolutionary algorithm 2 (SPEA 2).
The high penetration of distributed renewable resources requires integration strategies that ensure a balance between supply and demand. Transactive energy (TE) comprises a set of mechanisms capable ...of achieving this objective by using value as an operational parameter. This paper presents a review of the state of the art in TE, aiming to provide the reader with a general overview of concepts and applications. To accomplish this, the document offers a review of market and operational structures, with a particular focus on the role of TE in the composition of local energy markets. Furthermore, an analysis of the value concept in energy is proposed as a linking element between two current topics of academic interest: multi-energy systems and the water-energy-food nexus. Finally, some international and national pilot projects are showcased, allowing for the identification of the practical validity of the concepts described.

The competitive market is able to regulate simple innovative processes. In those of a more complex nature whose principal players may belong to either the same or a different firm a different form of ...organization is required: one which coherently defines rules and resources designed to avoid, in conditions of uncertainty, tensions arising between the different players which prevent their coordination. In this essay, the hypothesis that such organizations require both contract and leadership will be presented and discussed. The contract is required to en-sure ex-post efficiency, avoiding wastage of resources, and ex-ante efficiency, i.e. mutual commitment between the different players in the innovative process. Leadership is required to progressively manage the conflicts that occur between contrasting visions of how best to proceed that emerge from different specializations, legitimized through a shared commitment. Notwithstanding such characterization, leadership may also not assume the same functions of contract. The contract may not be sufficient and require leadership, but strong leadership cannot replace contract. In such a case, there would be a risk of disengagement. An initial application of this simple model (leadership and contract) seems encouraging against competing theories conceiving contract or leadership as sufficient conditions for innovation.
Various areas of Colombia meet their energy needs from the generation of electricity with Diesel generators since they are not connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN for its acronym in ...Spanish). In some of these areas, generation systems have been installed from unconventional sources, whose characteristics make them ideal power systems to propose and evaluate different protection strategies and schemes. Due to the importance of maintaining the electrical service in these populations, in this work the installation of a recloser in different parts of the system is proposed to increase the reliability of the network in the event of failures in different parts of the distribution system and its stability is evaluated in the same way with the operation of these devices through RMS simulations.
With the growing shortage of energy, wind power is receiving an increasing amount of attention worldwide as a clean source of renewable energy. One of the most important components of the wind ...turbine is the bird-wing-like blade under the working principle. Three kinds of bionic blades are designed by using bionic wing type and configuration based on the good aerodynamic performance of seagull wings, combined with the theory of wind turbine blade design-the blade element theory. Standard blade and aerodynamic performances of bionic blade are evaluated by means of numerical simulation. Under different wind speeds, the results show that the blade torque of the bionic blade of total improved airfoil increases by 10.2%, the bionic blade of partially improved airfoil increases by 14%, and the configuration improved blade increases by 7%. To verify the correctness of the numerical simulation results, we run the bionic blade and establish a corresponding experimental device in an actual experiment. The results of the experiment are consistent with the trend of the numerical simulation.

This study analyzes the current relationship between the extraction of lithium, communitarian conflict and development policies in Argentina and Brazil and compares what is happening in one country ...with what is happening in the other. It is based on the premise that the interaction of the technology-industry-politics triangle is key to an understanding of the modes of development in our peripheral region. The main hypothesis is that an extractive logic predominates in Argentina, while there is a different approach to lithium in Bolivia, due to a wager on a stronger linkage between national actors and the endogenous growth of a productive network, although the results are still uncertain. The study draws on secondary sources, first-hand documentation and interviews in both countries.

The production of biofuels from biomass has aroused industrial interest for being an alternative renewable source in relation to fossil fuels. Due to the great territorial extension and the quality ...of its lands the state of Mato Grosso do Sul contributes with a considerable portion of the national agricultural production. For this reason, this study aims to present the main biomasses and their transformation processes to the students of the public school of Dourados-MS. For the development of the extensionist action lectures and experiments were elaborated and worked in the classroom. For the evaluation, a questionnaire containing objective and subjective questions was applied. The extensionist action provided a differential in the academic education, since the experience with the school community led the undergraduate students to exercise tolerance, observation, planning and execution of group work, conditions that are fundamental requirements for the professional practice.
