Effective intersectoral collaboration across health and education has been a policy priority for decades as a means of meeting the needs of children with neurodevelopmental disorders in school yet ...remains rare in practice. A meta-ethnography was undertaken to explore the experiences of occupational therapists (OTs) and speech and language therapists (SLTs) with the aim of contributing new insights into the nature of their collaborative work in schools, and how it may best be facilitated. Electronic and manual searches were conducted. Papers were double-screened and critically appraised. A line of argument analysis was undertaken. Fourteen papers were analyzed, reporting the experiences of 369 practitioners from schools across six countries. Five concepts were identified: (a) negotiating liminal professional spaces; (b) gaining entry; (c) collaborative endeavor; (d) collaborative inertia; and (e) collaborative conviction. We describe the complex, effortful, and relational nature of intersectoral collaboration. We propose a conceptualization of SLT and OT collaborative practice in schools as articulation work, with elements of boundary work, much of which is invisible and non-routine. We argue the need for collaborative leadership to promote knowledge and awareness of the role of SLTs and OTs in school, and to support the contextual integration of their relational work in this setting.

According to the World Health Organization, premature baby is a newborn baby that was born between 22nd and 37th week of pregnancy. The premature babies, due to immaturity of all systems, require ...special care from the whole medical personnel and holistic approach. The role of a physiotherapist at the Neonatal Pathology Ward is a very important aspect and care of a little patient should be adjusted individually. The most important assumptions of the methods in the care of premature babies at the intensive care unit include normalization of muscle tension, change of abnormal posture and motor patterns, as well as normal sensory experiences. Techniques and supports adjusted to physical and personality capabilities of a child are applied during therapy 1,2. The Neonatal Pathology Ward is also a place for a clinical speech therapist who has a very important task in the care of a premature baby. A speech therapist who deals with therapy of a premature baby, checks anatomical conditions of the oral cavity, that is, tongue mobility, length of a frenulum, structure of the palate, and then develops a model of support individual for every patient 3. Interdisciplinary work of the members of a medical team is necessary to provide modern and professional care for the patients.
The presented text reports on the offer of selected courses for Speech Therapists in the Czech Republic. These courses are able to assist Clinical Speech Therapists to support the direction of ...therapy and the therapy itself. All courses are based on the need for comprehensive Speech Therapy and human approach. The article also emphasizes the need for permanent lifelong learning, in view of the changing conditions regarding the development of modern Science and Technology.
The incorporation of health professionals into inclusive schools is increasingly necessary. However, the work of these professionals has not yet been studied globally. This qualitative research ...analyses the perceptions of speech therapists, psychologists, physical therapists and occupational therapists on the role that educational policy defines for working in schools with School Integration Programmes in Chile. Through chain sampling, 52 professionals were interviewed. The data were analysed inductively through thematic analysis. The results show that the role defined by policies for professionals is not in line with the needs of schools and the aspirations of the inclusive approach. The exercise of the role emerges as a distinct entity from the defined role that seems to be more responsive to the needs of schools and students. Interviewees described tensions related to the role in schools, professional training, working conditions and contextual features that would permeate the role that the policy mandates them to play. The findings of the study promote new research horizons related to the role of professional assistants, where research is still incipient worldwide, and invite reflection on the importance of designing education policies with a bottom‐up approach to capture the needs presented by learners and professional teams.

Stuttering is a speech disorder characterized by frequent and significant problems with normal fluency and flow of speech. People who stutter perceive themselves as poor communicators and develop ...negative speech attitudes. This development of a negative communicative attitude could be related to the expectations and high demands made by their parents about fluency. When these expectations exceed the stuttering individual’s abilities to produce fluent verbal communication, a stuttering episode occurs. This is perceived by the individual as a communicative performance not adequately meeting the requests. Consequently, these individuals often resort to various avoidance and escape behaviors and generally avoid discussing their experiences and feelings related to stuttering. Therefore, stimulating communication is essential during speech therapy sessions to expose experiences otherwise kept hidden both from children/adolescents and their parents. However, encouraging communication is far from simple. In an attempt to facilitate communication and foster a more effective relationship between persons who stutter and their parents, we implemented the so-called awareness drawing according to the IARA model at the opening of the stuttering assessment session. Fourteen children (M=10; F=4; mean age=10.42; SD=1.65) and eight adolescents (M=6; F=2; mean age = 15.25; SD=1.03) diagnosed with stuttering were involved in this study, along with their relatives (28 parents; M=10; F=18; mean age=31.14; SD=4.66 years). The results of the study revealed that the drawings and comments of children and adolescents with stuttering, along with their parents, can offer valuable insights into their experiences and perceptions of stuttering. Children and adolescents expressed a desire for acceptance and a wish to be recognized beyond their stuttering. They depicted solutions that encompass the involvement of both parents and speech therapists. The utilization of awareness drawing can have a substantial impact on speech therapists. During the stuttering assessment session, it can provide valuable insights into the emotions, thoughts of person who stutter, as well as the experiences of their parents. This, in turn, can enhance the design of therapeutic intervention.
The main features of the Utsunomiya method auditory rehabilitation are “full-time hearing aid use from day 1 of rehabilitation with frequent examinations and adjustments for 3 months,” and “the ...presence of a speech therapist specialized in audiology in charge of hearing aid outpatients.” We established a hearing aid outpatient clinic adopting this method and examined the results over a period of 3 years. Data of a total of 174 subjects who underwent hearing rehabilitation at the hearing aid outpatient clinic of Keiyu Hospital from April 2016 to March 2019 were examined. We investigated the rehabilitation-dropout rate, hearing-aid purchase rate, and accuracy rate of hearing aid fitting by the sound field test and speech intelligibility test. The results revealed a rehabilitation-dropout rate of 2.9%, hearing aid purchase rate of 94.8%, and accuracy rate of hearing aid fitting by the sound field test of 97.6%, and by the speech intelligibility test of 94.7%. For patients with hearing loss, we found that this method was particularly useful for patients who had difficulties in their daily living due to hearing loss and showed a willingness to improve their hearing.

Although groups are not large, working with even four students is a challenge for the Speech Therapist. As communication is essential for humans, the Speech Therapist must work towards the enrichment of the vocabulary of every student, even those with moderate or severe intellectual disabilities (or in combination with Autism Spectrum Disorder).
Voice, as one of the most important communication tools in humans, can cause many problems in a person's daily life if it is damaged. One type of voice complaint is vocal fatigue, which is common ...among people who use their voices a lot. Rehabilitation therapists may be more vulnerable to a variety of vocal disorders and complaints due to extensive voice use and long-term relationships with clients. The aim of this study is to investigate and compare vocal fatigue among therapists in Ahvaz rehabilitation fields.
This cross-sectional, descriptive-analytical study was performed on 100 therapists in Ahvaz rehabilitation fields. For this purpose, the Persian version of the vocal fatigue index questionnaire has been used. One Way Anova parametric tests were used to compare target variables. The relationship between vocal fatigue and work experience and working hours per day was calculated using Spearman correlation coefficient.
A comparison of the scores of the vocal fatigue index in the rehabilitation therapists showed that there was a significant difference between the therapists scores in the field of speech therapy and the therapists scores in other fields (P < 0.05).
Due to the nature of rehabilitation fields and the use of voice during daily interactions with different clients, especially clients with special disabilities, the possibility of voice disorders and complaints in this population should be considered. Therefore, providing the necessary training for voice care and voice health of this population should be noted in order to prevent voice disorders and complaints
