National and international anti-doping programs are carried out to protect athletes' health, establish an equal and fair competition environment, and defend the basic principles of sports. This study ...aims to determine the situation regarding the prevention of doping in sports in Türkiye and the recommendations that can be presented to the national sports administration on anti-doping in line with the findings to be obtained. The study was designed with the explanatory sequential design participant selection sub-design, a mixed method research. Three hundred-two people, determined by the purposeful sampling technique, participated in the research. After evaluating the quantitative findings obtained using the questionnaire technique, in-depth interviews were conducted for the qualitative part of the research with 12 people who met the criteria determined among all the participants. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze quantitative data, and theme analysis, descriptive analysis, content analysis, analytical generalization, and discourse analysis were performed in qualitative data analysis. As a result of this research, it is understood that training activities prepared to increase the knowledge and awareness level of sports professionals are considered a more effective method for doping prevention than criminal sanctions. In line with the findings obtained, it is understood that there is a need to establish an independent, multi-faceted anti-doping organization in which all relevant stakeholders are involved and a national action plan in which more importance is attached to guidance and training activities.

The present paper offers the perspective of co-authors working at teaching, hybrid, and research institutions about the possibility of reimagining various sport management-based conferences. Via a ...review of website and conference programs, the authors make the case that sport management associations primarily support conventional rather than conversational conferences. To address this concern for all types of members, we generated several recommendations about what activities could be potentially infused into all sport management conferences to produce more conversational experiences. Those recommendations include: 1) developing full, developmental/works-in-progress, and case study paper sessions; 2) clustering presentations by topics; 3) reimagining poster sessions; 4) enhancing and expanding formal mentoring; and 5) offering industry grants and maintaining industry panels. Finally, within the current work, the notion of developmental reviewing is highlighted to demonstrate how that could produce more positive outcomes for scholars, teachers, and professional service providers interested in feedback during and before a conference.

This book explores the local environmental impact of sports stadiums, and how that impact can disproportionately affect communities of color. Offering a series of review articles and global case ...studies, it illustrates what happens when sport organizations and other public and private stakeholders fail to factor environmental justice into their planning and operations processes. It opens with an historical account of environmental justice research and of research into sport and the natural environment. It then offers a series of case studies from around the world, including the United States, Canada, Kenya, South Africa, and Taiwan. These case studies are organized around key elements of environmental justice such as water and air pollution, displacement and gentrification, soil contamination, and transportation accessibility. They illustrate how major sports stadiums have contributed positively or negatively (or both) to the environmental health of the compact neighborhoods that surround them, to citizens’ quality of life, and in particular to communities that have historically been subjected to unjust and inequitable environmental policy. Placing the issue of environmental justice front and center leads to a more complete understanding of the relationship between stadiums, the natural environment, and urban communities. Presenting new research with important implications for practice, this book is vital reading for anybody working in sport management, venue management, mega-event planning, environmental studies, sociology, geography, and urban and regional planning.
Sports management is a field of study that has grown significantly. However, little is known about its structure. Therefore, this article presents an unsupervised cluster learning approach based on a ...thematic analysis of abstracts. It applies to a large corpus of sports management documents to gain insight into the structure of the discipline. A total of 3,704 records were downloaded from the Scopus database. Data were processed using the BERTopic approach. The results indicate that sports management is a growing and highly collaborative field of study. The themes (or topics) were diversified (25 clusters). Due to their proximity, seven meta topics were also identified. While the interest in major sports events and the social impact of sports tourism has lessened in recent years, other fields of study, such as entrepreneurship, innovation and sports club management, have captured the interest of researchers.

This book fills an important gap in the sport governance literature by engaging in critical reflection on the concept of ‘good governance’. It examines the theoretical perspectives that lead to ...different conceptualisations of governance and, therefore, to different standards for institutional quality. It explores the different practical strategies that have been employed to achieve the implementation of good governance principles. The first part of the book aims to shed light on the complexity and nuances of good governance by examining theoretical perspectives including leadership, value, feminism, culture and systems. The second part of the book has a practical focus, concentrating on reform strategies, from compliance policies and codes of ethics to external reporting and integrity systems. Together, these studies shed important new light on how we define and understand governance, and on the limits and capabilities of different methods for inducing good governance. With higher ethical standards demanded in sport business and management than ever before, this book is important reading for all advanced students and researchers with an interest in sport governance and sport policy, and for all sport industry professionals looking to improve their professional practice.
This is the first book to focus on crowdfunding in sport. Crowdfunding is an important new financial instrument that is becoming more popular with sports organisations, and this book examines the ...research evidence for crowdfunding and considers how it might be successfully implemented. Presenting international cases and data, including from European football, the book explains how crowdfunding campaigns have to be fully integrated with strategic marketing plans and require a solid understanding of the needs and motivations of potential investors, consumers, and fans. The book sets out a theoretical framework for applying strategic marketing in the context of crowdfunding in sports clubs, introduces the key characteristics of the sports crowdfunding market and funders’ behaviours in the crowdfunding campaigns of sports clubs, examines the market segments of the campaigns’ funders, and presents recommendations for developing marketing-mix programs to target them. This is important reading for any researcher, advanced student, or practitioner with an interest in sport business, sport marketing, sport finance, consumer behaviour in sport, or entrepreneurship, innovation, or technology in sport.
This study aimed to describe the characteristics of municipal sports management and assess whether the municipal human development index influences the development of educational, performance or ...recreational sports policies. The study employs a quantitative approach and is an ex post facto study. The research was conducted by gathering data from the 2016 Municipal Basic Information Survey and the 2010 Demographic Census, white were compiled by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. The research revealed that there is a difference in the education levels between men and women holding managerial positions, and in general, it underscored the importance of managers having technical knowledge to carry out their tasks. Furthermore, it can be observed that there is a greater tendency to implement performance sports activities when municipalities have a higher Municipal Human Development Index.
