Based on the LA-ICP-MS data, detrital zircons from the tillite-type conglomerates of the Tanin Formation (Serebryanka Group) on the western slope of the Central Urals include approximately equal ...proportions of crystals with Neoarchean and Paleoproterozoic U-Pb ages. Therefore, we can assume that crystalline rocks of the basement beneath the eastern part of the East European Craton served as a provenance for aluminosilicate clastics in the initial Serebryanka period. Detrital zircons from sandstones of the Kernos Formation have the Meso-Neoarchean (∼15%), Paleoproterozoic (∼60%), and Mesoproterozoic (∼26%) age. Comparison of the obtained data with the results of the study of detrital zircons from Riphean and Vendian sandstones of the Southern Urals shows that the Riphean and Lower Vendian rocks are mainly represented by erosional products of Middle and Upper Paleoproterozoic crystalline rocks that constitute the basement of the East European Craton. In addition, a notable role belonged to older (Lower Proterozoic, Neoarchean and Mesoarchean) rock associations during the formation of the Serebryanka Group. The terminal Serebryanka time (Kernos Age) differed from its initial stage (Tanin Age) by the appearance of Mesoproterozoic complexes in provenances. According to available data, these complexes played an insignificant role in the formation of Riphean-Vendian rocks in the neighboring South Uralian segment. This implies a spatiotemporal diversity of clastic material sources for Upper Precambrian rocks in the western megazone of the Southern and Central Urals.

Condensed tannins are natural products which can be used to replace phenol because they have similar features and similar chemical reactivity. Several project have been started to develop this class of tannins. The most important results have been obtained with tannin based rigid foams. These foams are produced by a condensation reaction between Mimosa tannin and furfuryl alcohol. Successively tannin foams have also undergone carbonisation. Chemical and physical properties of organic and carbonised foam have been studied. Good results have also been obtained for a tannin-bore wood preservative formulation. Tannin based rigid foams are low-density and high porosity materials. The cheap raw material and 95% of natural products combine with an extremely low thermal conductivity and make this foam suitable for several applications such as insulation material, floral foam, trap for metal and shock absorber. Once the foam has undergone carbonisation the properties are strongly modified. This material is constituted mainly of reorganised aromatic structures and furanic derivatives, some of which survive after the treatment. These foams can be useful for applications such as catalyst support, activated carbons, porous electrodes and thermal shield.
The solid foams, because of their low density and cell structure, are commercial products with more and more interest. In recent decades, various methods for making foams based on bio-based materials have been prepared and characterized, such as lignin, starch and tannins. Because of their low cost, their resistance to compression, their high insulation and resistance to fire, tannin/furanic foams are supposed to be alternatives of phenolic foams and polyurethane in various applications. However, tannin/furanic foams are: a) lower mechanical resistant than synthetic foams such as polyurethane and phenolic foams b) potentially toxic because of formaldehyde, c) it is also interesting to prepare a foam more elastic. In this thesis, These works were carried out by four main steps: 1) Study and understanding the relationship of structure and properties of the foams. So different blowing agents, such as diethyl ether, pentane, and isocyanates and polyurethanes, were studied. 2) Carbon black, carbon nanotubes, nano clay, oligomers of hyperbranched poly (ester-amine) and pMDI were added to the formulations to improve their mechanical properties and change their cellular structures. 3) Glyoxal and glutaraldehyde have been tried to replace and prepare formaldehyde-free formaldehyde foams. 4) A new foam, albumin foam was prepared, characterized and optimized
Uz dodatak tanina proizvedene ploče imaju manju emisiju formaldehida.
Renewable resources are considered as sustainable, and sometimes cheaper, alternatives to substitute raw materials of petrochemical origin. We used tannins extracted from Mimosa barks. Tannin is an attractive precursor to synthesize new organic porous materials due to the presence of highly reactive phenolic molecules. The synthesis of these new carbon materials from tannin comprises a two-step process: the first step is a hydrothermal carbonization at moderate temperatures, 180-200°C, which allows obtaining a hydrochar, richer in carbon, and fixing other heteroatoms. These hydrochars present different morphologies as powder or gel. The second step is a carbonization at higher temperature (900°C), which allows increasing surface area (SBET), porosity as well as improving conductivity. The preparation of a porous carbon presenting mesopores perfectly defined in size and in their organization was realized by associating tannin, as carbon precursor, with a surfactant for porosity templating, the copolymer Pluronic F127. These new carbon materials were tested as electrodes of supercapacitor
This manuscript presents the preparation and the characterization of highly porous monolithic materials mainly derived from natural resources. The objectives were to: (i) develop new gels, biosourced up to the 91% level; (ii) suggest alternatives to supercritical drying in CO2, and (iii) investigate properties of interest for such gels in the organic state and, in some cases, after pyrolysis for obtaining carbon gels. For those purposes, tannin and soy flour were tested as precursors, at different concentrations and different pH, and three ways of drying were used: supercritical drying, freeze drying and evaporative drying. The obtained gels were characterized in terms of density, porosity, pore size distributions and specific surface area, whether in organic or in carbon form, depending on the intended application or expected type of porosity. Mechanical and thermal properties were also measured. The obtained broad range of porous textures allowed suggesting applications such as thermal insulators, catalyst supports or electrodes for electrochemical capacitors
