Often regarded as one of life's few certainties, death is both instantly familiar to us and deeply mysterious. Death is everywhere, yet few of us take the time to consider its significance in shaping ...human lives. This book addresses the difficult, complex, sensitive subject of death from a unique point of view. Drawing on insights from philosophers across the ages, the authors argue that death is a matter of profound educational importance. Paying particular attention to thinkers in the existentialist tradition, "Philosophy, Death and Education" shows that our understanding of death can play a key role in determining what, how and why we teach and learn. Death exerts an influence, often unnoticed, on our commitments and priorities, our ideals and relationships. A thoughtful examination of death, the authors suggest, can help us to see ourselves in a new light, and in so doing, allow us to better appreciate what others have to offer.
Nahju al-Balagha is rich in various teaching methods introduced by Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (PBUH), which are based on the Holy Qur'an and the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). These methods have a great impact ...on the methods of teaching and learning that emerged recently. The research aims at pointing out these teaching methods and making use of them in the educational process at the various stages of study to achieve the aim of the research, the researcher adopted many procedures including: determining the research methodology , population, sample, and the instrument. One of the findings of the research is that Nahj al-Balagha includes many methods of teaching. The researcher recommended that teachers read Nahj al-Balagha and employ it in teaching. The researcher suggests conducting a similar study that deals with the teaching methods in the collections attributed to ahl albeit (PBUT).
The article examines the issues of adopting the innovative teaching methods to effectively organise the educational process within blended and distance learning and teaching. The examples of ...curricula design using modern information technologies and elements (resources and activities) of the digital learning environment of Penza State University are given. The teaching methods and features of their employment are described. The authors highlight the need for further elaborating the issues of ongoing methodological support for teachers in the field of information and pedagogical technologies.
Aim
To determine whether the use of an online or blended learning paradigm has the potential to enhance the teaching of clinical skills in undergraduate nursing.
Background
The need to adequately ...support and develop students in clinical skills is now arguably more important than previously considered due to reductions in practice opportunities. Online and blended teaching methods are being developed to try and meet this requirement, but knowledge about their effectiveness in teaching clinical skills is limited.
Design
Mixed methods systematic review, which follows the Joanna Briggs Institute User guide version 5.
Data sources
Computerized searches of five databases were undertaken for the period 1995–August 2013.
Review methods
Critical appraisal and data extraction were undertaken using Joanna Briggs Institute tools for experimental/observational studies and interpretative and critical research. A narrative synthesis was used to report results.
Results
Nineteen published papers were identified. Seventeen papers reported on online approaches and only two papers reported on a blended approach. The synthesis of findings focused on the following four areas: performance/clinical skill, knowledge, self‐efficacy/clinical confidence and user experience/satisfaction. The e‐learning interventions used varied throughout all the studies.
Conclusion
The available evidence suggests that online learning for teaching clinical skills is no less effective than traditional means. Highlighted by this review is the lack of available evidence on the implementation of a blended learning approach to teaching clinical skills in undergraduate nurse education. Further research is required to assess the effectiveness of this teaching methodology.
