This study examines the effect of participation in regular tennis exercise on sportsmanship in secondary school students. The research was carried out with an experimental method and sequential ...design. The study sample, 46 volunteer students, was divided into two groups as experimental and control groups. The “Personal Information Form” and the “Physical Education Lesson Sportsmanship Behavior Scale” were applied to the students in both groups as a pre-test in the first week and as a post-test after 12 weeks. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 17.0 program was used for data analysis. As a result of the normality tests (Skewness and Kurtosis), it was determined that the data showed normal distribution, so the Independent Sample T-Test and Paired Samples T-Test were applied. The significance level was accepted as p lt;0.05. According to the findings of the study, while there was a statistically significant difference between the pre-test (90.82 ± 14) and post-test (97.52 ± 10) of the experimental group's sportsmanship level, no statistically significant difference between the pre-test (85.73 ± 12) and post-test (83.52 ± 14) of the control group's sportsmanship levels between. Consequently, this study reveals that participation in 12 weeks of regular tennis exercise significantly increases the sportsmanship level of secondary school students.
The present research was based on the theories that explore resilience in the field of Sport Psychology. The objective was to analyze the manifestation of psychological resilience in Cuban ...high-performance athletes, specifically in the former 800-meter runner Ana Fidelia Quiroz Moret and in athletes of the Cuban national Table Tennis team in the Juvenile and Senior categories. Research methods were used with a predominance of analytical qualitative methodology such as individual and group case studies, analysis-synthesis, interview, analysis of documents and videos, observation, the Stress Coping questionnaire of Sandin and Chorot and the Resilience scale of Wagnild and Young. The percentage was used as a mathematical method. The main results showed the presence of a high level of resilience in the ex-sportswoman studied and medium-high and high levels in the tennis players studied. The main conclusions highlighted the need to assess in the high performance athletes studied, the manifestations of psychological resilience in particular: the protective factors of the personality, the influence of social support networks as well as the strategies and styles of coping with stress that emerge in adverse situations that arise in sports life, difficulties of training and competition that they face regularly, which may constitute models to be taken into account for other athletes who are starting out.

In conclusion, autorobot learning media is better used in groups with high coordination compared to spongewheel learning media, whereas in groups with low coordination learning media is useful to improve the accuracy of forehand top spin table tennis.

The aims of this study were: i) to describe the dual career in tennis players from the Madrid Region; ii) to analyze if there are differences regarding gender, and iii) competition level. An ad-hoc questionnaire
was developed taking as reference the perception questionnaire of high-level university students-athletes about the dual career, ESTPORT (Sánchez-Pato et al., 2016). The sample was comprised by 60 tennis players (21.5 ± 2.8 years) residents in the Madrid Region. Fifty-five percent were men while forty-five percent were women. They trained an average of 3.9 ± 1.3 days and 17.2 ± 6.2 hours per week. Results confirm that each school year takes them about two years for passing it, a lack of planning a future out of the sport career and a high identification as athletes. Regarding gender comparison, women has less expectations on their sport career. This perception could be due the lower prize money in the women’s circuit. Women planned to work in relation to the studies the aim to finish. Regarding the competitive level, international level tennis players have a high commitment with the sport career. The main difficulties are not financial; they are the lack of flexibility at timetables to develop both careers. Practical insights for practitioners that work with tennis players are proposed.
The aim of the current study was to assess the effect of plyometric training (upper and lower body exercises) in explosive actions in young tennis players. Twenty-one young tennis players (11 males, ...10 females, age 14.33 ± 1.77 years old) participated in the present study and were divided, in a non-randomized manner, into a control group which continued with a
regular physical training and in a experimental group, which performed a biweekly plyometric training instead of the habitual fitness training during an 8-week period. Performance variables were assessed through several assessments; a 20-m sprint test (split 5m, 10m and 15m), a 5 + 5 m sprint with a 180º change of direction test, a bilateral (CMJ) and unilateral
countermouvement jump test, a maximum distance medicine ball throw test (BM), a speed serve test and a bilateral (SH) and unilateral (SHU) standing broad jump test. Performance’s effect was calculated based on the effect size. All performance variables were improved in both group compared to the pre-test. Furthermore, substantial greater enhancements
were obtained in SH, SHU, CMJ and BM in the experimental group in comparison to the control group. Therefore, the plyometric training program might be considered as an effective stimulus to improve explosive actions in young tennis players.
The aim of the study was to show the differences in
the game statistics related to the service in professional
and junior category in three surfaces and to determine
statistical differences during ...the game regarding both
categories. A total of 269 individual Grand Slam tennis
matches (Australian Open, Wimbledon and Roland
Garros) were selected on three different surfaces (hard
court, grass and clay). The data was collected from
the official websites of the tournaments. A total of
10 variables were analyzed in professional category
and 7 in junior. Absolute players obtained higher
values (p <0.05) of aces, aces per set, percentage of
1st Services and points won with 1st and 2nd Service
and committed fewer double faults per set than
juniors in all surfaces. It is concluded that the increase
in performance in the variables related to the service
plays a decisive role in order to achieve a professional
status.
