For centuries, the monumental ruins of the Baths of Caracalla in Rome have attracted the attention of humanists, philologists and antique dealers, tickling their curiosity and arousing imaginative ...reconstructions. From the forefathers to the spokespersons of modern archaeology, it is this discipline that has mostly directed and guided the most recent studies on the complex, from the 1800s to today. However, while the ‘archaeological’ vocation constitutes the most evident and representative essence of these remains, for over a thousand years the whole area over which they lay was mainly used as agricultural land divided and passed on from hand to hand through countless owners. An attempt is made to provide a brief overview of this long and little-known history of use, covering the 300 years from the mid-16th century to the Unification of Italy. Starting from the identification of some of the many figures who have alternated over time as owners of the individual estates in different capacities, the story gives us a valuable amount of information also relating to what the owners themselves, as customers, have deliberated and conducted on the farms which they used, cultivating them, building and directing stripping, excavation, accommodation, reuse, and destruction operations, while providing us with useful data for the analysis of the transformative mechanisms of the land use of this portion of the city, to be related to the more general urban history of Rome.

A dynamically installed anchor (DIA) is a practical and promising type of anchor for deepwater offshore engineering. Currently, very few research studies have reported the effects of reconsolidation ...time on the holding capacity of DIAs. Moreover, there is no well-established, simple, and practical method for determining the time-dependent holding capacity of a DIA. To solve this problem, a series of centrifuge model tests was conducted by varying the reconsolidation time. In the intermediate-term reconsolidation scenario, the normalized holding capacity increased with the dimensionless time in an approximately log-linear manner. Based on this finding and a conventional American Petroleum Institute (API) method put forth in 2007 as well as the cylindrical cavity expansion theory, a simple three-term framework was developed to estimate the time-dependent holding capacity of DIAs. In this framework, cavity closure and skin friction were quantitatively correlated with the reconsolidation time. To validate the feasibility of the proposed framework, the predicted results were compared with the experimental results of cases in this study and other researchers’ work. As such, it was verified whether this framework could be used to estimate the time-dependent holding capacity of DIAs rationally.

The article reviews recent investigations in the application of ultra-low temperatures for high-quality long-term storage of fish. Changes in fish quality were discussed with respect to thermal events, which occur at low and ultra-low temperatures. Excellent stability of proteins was found at temperatures below the end of freezing point, when the unfrozen water content is at its minimum. Lipid oxidation was inhibited by preventing oxygen penetration to fish tissues rather than decreasing storage temperature. Thus, a significant part of fish oils remains unfrozen until temperatures of −110.0°C. The recommended storage temperature for high-quality long-term storage of fish is −35.0°C. Further decreasing storage temperature is unnecessary for industrial needs.

Objectif :Etant donnée les difficultés d’accès aux financements long terme pour la PME. Cette analyse vise à expliquer les effets des facteurs liés aux PME camerounaises sur le comportement du ...financement d’exploitation et du financement bancaire court terme. Méthodes :Pour y parvenir nous avons grâce à un échantillon de 150 PME camerounaises observé sur la période 2010 à 2014, issue d’une base fournie par l’INS ; effectuer deux régressions de MCG. Une sur le financement d’exploitation et l’autre sur le financement bancaire court terme. Résultats : La régression par le financement d’exploitation ressort une relation inverse avec l’endettement long terme ; de même la régression par le financement bancaire court terme relève une relation négative avec l’endettement long terme et le financement d’exploitation. Cette absence de complémentarité entre ces variables définissant les sources de financement traduit la pertinence de ce travail. Originalité / Pertinence : La prédominance du financement d’exploitation dans la structure financière des PMEexpose les difficultés qu’éprouvent la PME camerounaiseset celle d’Afrique subsaharienne pour l’accès aux concours bancaires et à l’endettement financier. Cependant une relation positive aurait favorisé leurs dévouements d’où la nécessité ; d'améliorer la relation banque-PME ; de recapitaliser la Banque Camerounaise des PME, tout comme la Banque de Développement de l’Afrique Centrale (BDEAC) qui agit à l’échelle sous régionale. La bourse des valeurs mobilières d’Afrique centrale (BVMAC) doit également se capitaliser ; afin que la PME puisse bénéficier du financement adéquat.
In this paper we describe an example of travertine fissure-ridge development along the trace of a normal fault with metre displacement, located in the eastern margin of the Neogene–Quaternary Siena ...Basin, in the Terme S. Giovanni area (Rapolano Terme, Italy). This morphotectonic feature, 250 m long, 30 m wide and 10 m high, formed from supersaturated hot waters (39.9°C) flowing from thermal springs aligned along the trace of the normal fault dissecting travertines not older than Late Pleistocene (24 ± 3 ka). A straight, continuous fissure with a maximum width of 20 cm occurs at the top of the ridge, along its crest. Hot fluids flow from cones mainly located at the extremities of the ridge, where travertine is depositing. The travertine fissure-ridge shows an asymmetrical profile since it buries the fault scarp. The difference in height of slopes corresponds to the vertical displacement of the normal fault. Fissuring of the recent travertine deposits along the strike of the crestal fissure, as well as recent hydrothermal circulation, lead us to believe that the Terme S. Giovanni normal fault may be currently active. On the whole, the Terme S. Giovanni fissure ridge can be defined as a travertine fault trace fissure-ridge, adding a helpful example for studying the relationship between faulting and travertine deposition.

I due frammenti di architrave rivenuti a Tunisi nel 1894 e nel 1907 riportanti un’iscrizione in versi che loda le Terme di Gebamondo sono stati da sempre considerati parte di un singolo monumento. ...Tuttavia, il confronto paleografico tra i due mostra che sono stati realizzati da mani diverse. Sostengo che i frammenti appartengano a due copie della stessa iscrizione. Poi, ipotizzando che le due copie avessero una impaginazione simile, ho verificato se le varie integrazioni proposte per la parte centrale mancante siano compatibili con lo spazio della lacuna.
