Poleg tega je urednik antologij Poetry 180: A Turning Back to Poetry, 180 More: Extraordinary Poems for Every Day in Bright Wings: An Illustrated Anthology of Poems About Birds. Collins, nekdanji ugledni profesor angleščine na Lehmanovem Collegeu, City University of New York, je bil poleg tega poeta laureatus Združenih držav Amerike med letoma 2001 in 2003 ter izbrani pesnik države New York med letoma 2004 in 2006. Leta 2016 je bil sprejet v Ameriško akademijo za umetnost.
