  • Cardiovascular dynamics - analysis and modelling of its oscillations and their synchornization

    Flow of blood through the cardiovascular system is characterised by five oscillatory processes. In healthy relaxed subjects their characteristic frequencies range from 0.01-1.2 Hz. Each oscillator is ... coupled with each of the others thus mutually influencing all their frequencies and amplitudes. Control of the cardiovascular system appears to be maintained by a fine balance between the eigenfrequencies of the oscillators, resulting in an interplay between instantaneous amplitude and frequency modulation and synchronization between their phases.
