Dental pulp is a specialized loose connectve tissue with nerves, blood and lymph vessels, composed of cells and ground substance with collagenous and argyrophilic fibers. Odontoblasts are the most ...characteristic cells of dental pulp. They are highly specialized, polarized, irreversibly postmitotic cells which are situated in the peripheral zone of dental pulp just beneath the predentin. Each odontoblast has a cell process, which lies in its own dentinaltubule surrounded by dentinal liquid. We can percieve the dental pulp response after cavity preparation and application of different filling materials on histological level. A quantitatively and topografically oriented study was conducted to establish the survival of odontoblasts after two different intensities of stimuli. The aim of our experiment was to confirm theexistence of early dental pulp response, to locate it, to determine its character and extent and to make its qualitative and mainly quantitative assessment. Our hypothesis was that early dental pulp response to cavity preparation and acid etching is stronger than early dental pulp response to cavity preparation only. We studied early dental pulp response on 28 female 45days old Wistar rats. On the mesial surface of intact first upper molar in each quadrant we made two different restorative procedures illustrating two different intensities of stimuli. The procedure A represented cavity preparation with acid etching and a provisional restoration, the procedure B represented cavity preparation only with a provisional restoration. The secondintact molar, left without any restorative procedure in the same quadrant, served as a control. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters).
