Solution of intermodal tracking of dangerous goods' transport through the ChemLog T&T project

Important priority to improve safety and reliability of intermodal transport of hazardous goods in Central and Eastern Europe has led to the transnational cooperation project ChemLogT&T. The main ...idea of the project is to improve safety and reliability of the transport by implementation of ICT based tracking and tracing (T&T) solutions which should be orchestrated on a European level. International transport of hazardous goods is regulated in order to prevent accidents to humans or property and to the environment. UNECE ensures consistency of transport conditions for all modes of transport and effective implementation of those mechanisms. UNECE has been working on a proposal of general system architecture for use of electronic transport document in order to improve emergency management in transport of hazardous goods. With in ChemLogT&T project a Central Orchestration Framework (web platform) with international focus has been developed. Sharing of tracking information on dangerous goods transport provided by single commercial T&T providers in order to be further manipulated and forwarded to the respective entities (e.g. stress & rescue teams) makes a basic function of the platform. The article will present the idea of UNECE system architecture and describe the ChemLogT&T solution that complies with the proposed architecture that will be pilot-tested in international intermodal transportation on EU Corridor V.
