The majority of church services in the new Codex are intended especially for unordained persons, both for men as well as women. From necessity and to the benefit of the Church, priests may entrust ...women with certain duties whose performance does not require holy orders. These duties and tasks are prescribed in the new Codex and in other instructions. The activities referred to do not lie within women's rights as such, but they entrusted with them by priests exceptionally under certain circumstances and from necessity. However, it should be also clear that they are not entitled to these services, but only entrusted with them in a special way. The Codex therefore strongly encourages priests to entrust women with certain pastoral duties and inspire them to participate, as much as possible, in spreading Christ's teachings, in the Holy Communion and in leadership.
