Translating propaganda texts of J. R. Kipling, H. G. Wells and A. C. Doyle into modern Slovene and its archaic newspaper register : graduation thesis = Prevajanje propagandnih besedil J. R. Kiplinga, H. G. Wellsa and A. C. Doyla v sodobni knjižni in arhaični časniški jezik : diplomsko deloPipan, Aleš, 1987-The aim of this diploma thesis is two-fold. First, to analyse and translate the propagandistic texts of Joseph Rudyard Kipling, Herbert George Wells and Arthur Conan Doyle on the topic of the Isonzo ... Front. In order to facilitate this goal the specifics of translating propaganda text had to be determined, as well as the approach with which the translator may recreate or, at the very least, accurately represent another culture's propaganda. The focus is on the differences that exist between the source and the target culture due to the historical and political developments and on the way in which they affect the process of translation. The second goal is to determine the feasibility of translating propaganda texts into the archaic register of Slovene language which was used by the newspapers at the time when the source texts were written. Four Slovene newspapers from the period 1915-1917 have been analysed in order to compile a glossary of terms and to determine the most prominent characteristics of the register. On the basis of these findings two distinct translations have been produced and compared. Finally, a survey has been conducted in order to asses the appeal of the archaic translation to the modern readers.Type of material - undergraduate thesis ; adult, seriousPublication and manufacture - Maribor : [A.
