  • Using the adaptive short list in WWW navigation
Debevc, Matjaž ; Žavcer, Aleksander ; Kovše, Jernej
Because of the rapid growth of the World Wide Web, the amount of information useful and interesting to the user has increased. Since these information come from various sources (WWW pages), it is ... difficult to remember all the site addresses in order to access the same source in further work. Some browsers provide a number of different solutions, such as the bookmark or history features, for example. One of the possible solutions that could be used is the Adaptive Short List, which is an application running parallel to the browser, monitoring the user's accesses to the WWW pages. The record of accesses is kept in a database and a special Selection Algorithm tries to select the sites being most useful and interesting to the user at the moment. The selection is then presented to the user in form of a small list of sites, offering the possibility of accessing sites directly from the list. Several advantages of the ASL system are described in this article.
