Modern ... tourists are getting more demanding, and the urge to have an authentic and traditional experience throughout their stay at the destination is becoming more pronounced, as their travel experience grows and they have more control in choosing a destination. In the places they visit, tourists may learn about and experience the traditional authentic way of life of the local inhabitants. Local traditional food, which comprises of autochthonous items that have been enjoyed in that area ever since, is one of the experiences that such tourists seek. The authenticity of local products and the techniques used to prepare them play a significant part in the planning and development of rural tourism. This study looked at how tourists who visited the region of Western Serbia felt about the importance of being ready to fulfill their tourist experience by tasting local food during their stay. By the end of 2020, the research was conducted via an online questionnaire. The online questionnaire was completely anonymous and due to COVID-19 pandemic limitations, it was circulated over social media. In a survey of 500 respondents, it was determined that tourists visiting the Western Serbia region have a strong desire to try local delicacies. Furthermore, many respondents stated that tasting the food they discover at their destination had a favorable impact on their decision to buy that product for later use at home. Tourism attitudes like these support sustainable development, particularly in rural tourist locations.
