  • Human capital as the critical success factor : a comparative analysis of the slovene hotel industry
    Ivankovič, Gordana ; Jerman, Mateja
The research investigates the importance of human capital as the most important critical success factor in the hotel industry. The aim of the research is to identify the relevance of the staff ... turnover indicator for general managers (GM) and department managers (DM) and to establish whether any improvement can be ascertained in comparison with the previous five-year period. Moreover the paper investigates the relation between the level of education of GM and DM in relation with hotels' performance. The results demonstrate that we can evidence a notable improvement related to the staff turnover indicator. Both, GMs and DMs devote more attention to the staff turnover indicator. On the other hand we can not establish any connection between the level of education and the performance of an individual hotel. Despite the fact that employees are critical success factors (CSF) in the hotel industry, the level of their education does not influence the performance measures. Future research approaches should analyze the relation between employees, as the CSF, and the financial performance of present day hotel enterprises.
