Este artículo se propone analizar la traducción teatral desde una perspectiva filosófica. La palabra, y más aún la palabra teatral vista como origen y lugar de una doble capacidad de conservar y al mismo tiempo de entregar sus significados y significantes. En general, si la traducción literaria es esa particular translación donde los valores eferentes juegan una parte fundamental, aquella específica del teatro conlleva en sí un texto escrito y otro texto espectacular. En la palabra teatral convive, entonces, un doble aspecto, tanto interno como externo a la propia palabra. Esta suerte de endíadis es lo que determina en la práctica la particular traducción teatral.
