The good times for the thousands of visitors were tempered with some controversy on the floor, however. Pat Hoey tossed out Skip Chernov of the Providence Beer Co. for pouring too much beer with each sample. Brewers were only supposed to pour 2 to 3 ounces of brew, but Centrum workers said Chernov was pouring 4 ounces per sample. Chernov's booth was surrounded by at least six Centrum staffers as he packed up his supplies. Two police officers stood by. Chernov said he complied with the policy after he was asked, but Hoey said Chernov had been warned a number of times. With a small brewery in Marlboro, Scott Lutke made 150 barrels of beer over the last year. There are 31 gallons - or 14 cases - per barrel. Lutke expects to triple the amount of beer he brewed this year, now that he is working full time with his brewery.
