Karl Marx's critique of ideology shows his disenchantment with the philosophy of his time. In his theory of history, he spoke of the abolition of much philosophy, but the notion of revolutionary theory & practice led to questions about the ultimate fulfillment of a socialist revolution. This is the key to understanding the important role played by the status of political theory in Marx's historical analysis. Marx's concept of man as a political being can be analyzed in Aristotelian terms. Aside from its dogmatism, Marxism contains commonsense viewpoints functioning as the presuppositions for the explanation of a nonmetaphysical concept of political activity. 36 References.
