  • European union as an 'external anchor' [Elektronski vir] : EU's institutional framework and quality of governance of its members

    In their paper, the authors analyse the role of international institutional factors of political stability of particular country. It is focused on the European Union as a kind of 'external anchor' ... that guarantees execution of democratic norms and principles at both European and national level. They try to show that although for former communist countries from Central and Eastern Europe as well as for former autocracies form Southern Europe integration intoEU is a factor that contributes to development of democracy, it does not guarantee upgrading of quality of governance what is related to the weakness of monitoring mechanisms after the accession.
