  • Disperse dyes - dyes for printing and dyeing of polyester flags [Elektronski vir]
Majcen Le Marechal, Alenka ; Križanec, Boštjan
Polyester is the most common material for flags. Polyester requires the use of disperse dyes. Disperse dyes in their dispersed colloidal form are suitable for dyeing and printing hydrophobic fibers ... and fabrics. Other typesof dyes leave the colour of polyester almost entirely unchanged. When the dye is applied from aqueous medium, it is adsorbed fro the molecularly dispersed aqueous solution onto the fiber surface and then diffuses into the interior ofthe fiber. During printing, disperse dyes sublimate at similar temperatures at which polyester fibres become receptive and enable easy transfer to the fabric. The fabric then cools down and the dyes are trapped in the fibres, requiring no additional processing. Industrially applied disperse dyes are based on numerous chromophore systems. Approximately 60^ of all products are azo dyes, and cca 35% are anthraquinine dyes, with the remainder among quinophthalone, methine, naphthalimide, naphthoquinone and nitro dyes. Azo dyes are currently employed to create almost the entire range of shades.
