    This is a treatment manual which provides a detailed description of the methods for setting up and implementing LEGO-based group therapy. The outcome research and rationale for the method are ... provided, followed by descriptions of participant selection and intake and outcome monitoring procedures. The method involves organized group play using LEGO materials with children with autism spectrum and related conditions, emphasizing direct interaction, joint task focus and accomplishment, and verbal and nonverbal communication. The outcome research has emphasized measures of social functioning outside of the groups themselves (i.e. generalized gains) including observation of playground behavior and scores on the Vineland Socialization Domain. Three outcome studies by the authors were completed independent of one another prior to this joint publication. The book was initially written as a manual so that there would be consistency in implementation for replication trials. Other providers or groups of providers are encouraged to use this method as it shows significant potential for improving social functioning in children and adolescents with autistic and related conditions, without a large time investment and with high rates of attenda
