    Background. Slovene reference standards for weight, length, and head circumference at birth, for each week of gestational age, are presented. Patients and methods. They are based on the total Slovene ... cohorts of singletoninfants born in the decade 1987-96 (N = 223,949). Complete population, without stillbirths and chromosome anomalies, was used for the analysis. The data grouped by gestational weeks were assumed to be normally distributed. Conclusions. The use of the reference standards presented here improves and facilitates the evaluation of the size deviation at birth.
