  • Liberalization - challenge for the EU in common regulation of safety on the railways

    The market of rail transport services will be liberalized, which will have some consequences on safety issues related to railway transport. It is urgent to develop methods and procedures which will ... reflect safety within the EU on the common base. EU has adopted some rules and regulations necessary for development of common safety principle. One of the instruments was establishment of the European Railway Agency with the task of setting up common safety principle. The European Railway Agency has started developing the common basic principles like: Common Safety Indicators, common Safety Targets, Common Safety Methods... It is still questionable if the methods used are right directions to achieve the common measures for safety within the European Union.
