  • Discipline approaches in the viewpoint of teacher's communication = Pristup disciplinama sa stanovišta komunikacije učitelja

    In the theoretical part of the article the basic characteristics of three discipline approaches are presented. They disagree in the extent of how much freedom or control does the teacher need in ... order to define what an appropriate behavior is and to correct the student's inapropriate bahavior. Teacher's role, prelevant intervention techniques and communication that appear whithin individual discipline approaches are described. The empirical part of the article presents research results about the prelevant discipline techniques and communication characteristics that appear within them in the primary schools in Slovenia. The research sample consisted of randomly selected class teachers teaching 11-14 years olds at elementary school (n=55) and randomly selected the 6th and 8th grade students of elementary school (n=245). The instruments of the research were two non-standard questionnaires. The research shows that elementary teachers use different discipline techniques. The extent of usage of particular techniques by teachers depends on how difficult the valuation is and on how often the student does the valuation. Both, the content and the form of communication depend on the same variables
