    Background. Treatment of pilonidal sinus which ensures the shortest possible hospitalization, the shortest absence from work and the minimal morbidity. Methods. Analysis of 334 patients operated on ... for pilonidal disease in the period of 5 years, from 1992-1997. Results. 106 patients presented with and were operated for abscending disease, 43 patients presented with recidivant disease after primary care done in other units, all our patients were treated by using the procedure of incision with excision. Conclusions. The appropriatetreatment of pilonidal sinus is exclusively surgical. By choosing asuitable procedure we can ensure short hospitalization times, short absences from work and minimal morbidity.
