    The paper showed land use changes in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region in the period 2000-2020. Changes are analysed in 11 categories of land use. The directions of land use change are also ... analysed. Changes in arable land are shown using the extensification coefficient. Land use and its changes reflect changed general values in society. Since the beginning of our civilisation, man has adapted land use to his needs. One of the most important functions of land use was land cultivation and food production, which is one of the most important goods and ensures the existence of the individual and the human species. According to Vrabič Kek (2012) "To ensure the proper well-being of a society, harmony is needed between life satisfaction, health, lifelong learning, social life, a sense of security and a suitable environment".
