    In a previous study (Cugmas & Musil, 2001) the relationship of fourth-graders toward the use of the PC (personal computer) was observed. The present research is interested in the opinion parents have ... about the usefulness of the PC for their child. Such opinions may influence the behaviour of parents, while the latter in turn enhances the child's drive for achievements. The study itself involved the parents of 145 children attending the second, third and fourth grade of elementary school. Questionnaires were filled out. We found that the beliefs of parents about the use of the computer corresponded to those of the children, that these beliefs were related to the parents' level of education, to the amount of time the parents personally used the computer and other variables. Parents are aware of the important role the computer will play in their child's future, however, they express a certain amount of scepticism regarding the more frequent use of the computer at school and at home
