  • Incident - možnost parenteralnega prenosa okužb pri zdravstvenih delavcih = Incident - risk of parenteral transmission of blood-borne infections to healthcare workers
    Lužnik-Bufon, Tatjana
Occupation-aquired infection can be a consequence of needlestick injures and other blood contacts in health care workers, caused by needles or sharp instruments or blood splashed on mucus membranes ... or skin. These incidents may cause a number of serious and potentially fatal infections with blood-borne pathogens such as hepatitis B and C virus or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). By eliminating the unnecessary use of sharp instruments, using safety devices and promoting education and safe work practices for handling, these injures can be avoided. Although exposure prevention remains the best strategyfor protecting HCWs from occupationally aquired infection, exposure reporting, evaluation, counseling and exposure assesment and emergency management have to be done.
