  • Diastolična disfunksija levega prekata = Diastolic dysfunction of the left ventricle
    Klemenc, Matjaž, 1960-
Background. The prevalence of left ventricular failure with a normal ejection fraction (i.e. diastolic dysfunction of the left ventricle, DDLV) is as high as 30-40%. DDLV is defined as a condition ... resulting from an increased resistance to ventricular filling. Basic division of the diastole is describedand properties that are important for relaxation and effective chamber compliance. Conclusions. The process of relaxation can be determined by: maximal negative velocity of pressure change and a time constant of ventricular relaxation (tau). Effective chamber compliance is assessed by relationship between volume and pressure during blood flow across the mitral valve from the leftatrium to the left ventricle. Some most frequent causes of DDLV are described, such as hypertensive and ischemic heart disease. DDLV can be assessed by several noninvasive techniaues: radioisotopic ventriculography, computer tomography, magnet resonance imaging. Echocardiography,as most frequentlyused method is desribed in details. At the end of this review article author mention some basic principles of therapy of LVDD.
