    Guided tissue regeneration has found wide application in the treatment of periodontal disease. This article deals with the use of autologous platelet concentrate to promote the regeneration of ... destroyed periodontal tissue. Platelet-rich plasma contains high levels of growth factors, including platelet-derived growth factor, transforming growth factor beta, epidermal growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor. The growth factors are involved in the transformation of precursor cells into osteoblasts, in wound healing and bone regeneration, they speed up the formation of epithelial tissue and stimulate angiogenesis. With the aid of a special device, platelet-rich plasma can be prepared from the patient's own blood during periodontal operations.
