  • Incidence of immediate postoperative pain relief by intramuscular analgesics injection in slovenian hospitals
    Krčevski-Škvarč, Nevenka ; Pečan, Marija, 1933-2023
The accurate postoperative pain relief begins immediately postoperatively. Adequate analgesia could be achieved by analgesics applied intravenously due to quick action, which is not possible with ... analgesics applied intramuscularly. Nine hospitals were studied for methodes of immediate postoperative pain treatment and for frequency of intramuscular analgesic application. The results hoswed that 20.5% of patients were untreated, 38.2% of patients were treated with analgesics intravenously and 33.1% of patients were treated with analgesics applied intramuscularly. In some general hospitals analgesics intramuscular application is still the major immediate postoperative pain treatment. The scientific basis for unsatisfactory results of this methode of pain relief are given as well as the need to respect all modes of contemporary pain management.
