    This research explores whether theatre as performing art can, and to what extent, bring social change in Kosovo. It is based on a case of Artpolis – Art and Community Centre, an important factor in ... Kosovo in empowering women and youth to become catalysts for social change. I provide an analysis of three of Artpolis’s performances that deal with violence against women (VAW), conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), and discrimination and violence against LGBT+ community, putting it in relation with the existing literature on the theatre for social change. The impact of the theatre is analysed through testimonies of actors, theatre directors, and audiences and targeted audiences (CRSV and VAW survivors and members of LGBT+ community). Since theatre’s main tool is the body, and violence that happens includes the body as well, I focused on elements of embodied activism, corporeality, physicality of pain and of emotions to learn about the impact human suffering can project on these three target categories. The study brings concrete spheres where theatre for social change can play a major role.
