  • Minimum wage in Slovenia and the European Union: does it harm employment of young workers? [Elektronski vir]
    Laporšek, Suzana, 1984-
The paper studies minimum wage developments in Slovenia since its introduction in1995 and the relationship between minimum wage and employment of young workersin broader EU perspective. Slovenia ... records one of the highest minimum wages in theEU, which extraordinary increased during the economic crisis. Empirical estimates basedon panel regression analysis with fixed effects and including data for 18 EU MemberStates with statutory minimum wage between 1996 and 2011 show that high minimumwages have a negative effect on employment opportunities of young workers. Accordingto the results, Slovenia should reconsider its future minimum wage policy.
