  • Energy demand modeling of an office building [Elektronski vir]
Sleptsov, Arseniy ; Bischi, Aldo ; Šuklje, Tomaž
Energy efficiency in buildings is of the Russian Government priorities given its high potential out of all energy consuming sectors. Since the building stock of the country is old and needs ... renovation, it appeals even more attention to study current buildings energy consumption, today's technology evolution and the future opportunities in increasing energy efficiency. Buildings sector of Russia represents around 38% of national primary energy consumptions. Residential buildings, the vast part of the building stock (74%), mostly are supplied by centralized energy systems on the other hand service sector buildings, the second major part of the building sector (15%), due to higher tariffs for thermal and electric energy use, look for autonomous solutions. The latter makes sophisticated to draw energy consumption by end use in these buildings. The poster presents energy consumption of a real service sector office building model located in weather conditions of Moscow and heated by an individual heating unit sourced from the district heating plant. The simulation results of the model are validated against metered data and outline the following outcomes: Energy consumption by end use that helps to understand implementation of different energy sources for these type of buildings; Electricity consumption schedule showing peak, in termediate, base loads distribution; Thermal inertia of the building and control schedules of the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, that play significant role in electric power consumption of service sector buildings, explaining capabilities of the office buildings for the demand response programs aimed at electricity generation and consumption matching.
