  • Shelf-life study of N-trimethyl chitosan antimycotic activity against Candida albicans [Elektronski vir]
    Ristić, Tijana ...
In this paper the influence of the degree of quarternization (DQ) of N,N,N-trimethyl chitosan (TMC) on antimycotic activity against Candida albicans was investigated. TMC solutions with different DQ ... and different concentrations were compared. The results have shown a decrease in antimycotic activity with increasing DQ. Concentration dependent inhibition was observed as expected; i.e. higher concentration showed better antimycotic activity. Lower DQ resulted in detection of higher positive charge at acidic pH due to higher amount of primary (non-quaternized) amino groups Shelf-life study of TMC solutions has proven TMC to be suitable candidate for medical application while it is capable of maintaining antimycotic activity for 2 years.
