  • Klinični pomen ultrazvočne preiskave golenskih arterij = Clinical significance of ultrasound examination of crural arteries
    Šabovič, Mišo ; Videčnik, Viktor
Ultrasound examination of peripheral arteries has become common in clinical practice. The examination of crural arteries is the most difficult part, as itis highly dependent on the examiner's ... experience and skills. Examination is performed through predetermined ultrasound windows . The estimation of blood flow in crural arteries is particularly important when proximal arterial occlusion is present and such cases are relatively frequent in clinical practice. It is important to be aware that in 30% of such cases contrast angiography gives a wrong impression of occluded crural arteries. In cases with proximal occlusion, the examination technique should be adjusted. The patient should be examined in the seated position at a lower pulse repetition frequency (PRF). In the majority of cases, a careful examination will provide convincing information about the presence or absence of blood flow in crural arteries.
