    Lipovec, Alenka ; Pangrčič, Polonca
One of the points of emphasis in mathematics education in the last two decades has been investigation of teachers' beliefs and conceptions and their possibilities for change. The results in this area ... of research in mathematics teacher education are known as "teacher change" - meaning a change in his/her beliefs and conceptions concerning teaching and learning. Intervention programs, that can be helpful in challenging prospective teachers' beliefs, are usually based on teachers' acquaintance with students' ways of thinking. In this paper we propose the concept and design of a program which includes math club activities with mathematically promising students (age 8-11). The presented program has been used in elementary teacher education at Faculty of Education in Maribor for the last five years. The main idea is comprised of reversed roles in teaching and learning process i.e. elementary school preservice teachers should learn from the children. The program includes five stakeholders in the school environment on the basis of a teacher-student-parent-preservice teacher-teacher educator relation. It is defined by 10 relationships among stakeholders and was evaluated from various viewpoints. We present evaluation of the program addressing two stakeholders. The results speak in favour of presented approach.
