  • The effect of nano Ti▫$O_2$▫ surface modification on polyester coloration [Elektronski vir]
    Fakin, Darinka ; Ojstršek, Alenka
The main contribution of the present work was to study the influence of nano-sized TiO2-treated polyester fabricsć functionalized surface properties on dyeability (TiO2/disperse dye-bath ... compatibility), colour, and colour strength in comparison to dyed/non-coated polyester. Colloidal dispersions including nano-sized TiO2, coated with different amount of SiO2 (3, 5 or 10%), were incorporated into dye-baths. Polyester fabric (PES) was dyed using three disperse dyes of different chemical structures in two concentration according to exhaustion procedure. In addition, morphological structures of nano-upgraded fabrics were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, and colouration behaviour by colorimetry (determination of CIE L*a*b* colour values). Also, colour differences between dyed and dyed/TiO2-SiO2 were evaluated. From the obtained results, it could be concluded that higher amount of SiO2 contributes to higher agglomeration of TiO2 nanoparticles on the fabric surface; the colour strength is lower, and the total colour differences are larger, mainly on account of higher lightness (L*).
