  • UV-shielding ability of cotton fabric modified with dispersions comprised of TiO2-SiO2 nanoparticles [Elektronski vir]

    The main goal of this paper was to examine the UV-shielding ability of cotton fabric treated with three colloidal dispersions comprised of TiO2 nanoparticles coated with different amount of SiO2 ... shell component. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV/Vis spectroscopy of suspensions revealed the presence of TiO2 spherical-shaped nanoparticles in dispersions aswell as its prominent absorption capacity in UV region. Morphological changes of the coated fabrics were studied as well as their UV-shielding ability. The obtained results show acceptable blocking properties against UV-rays governed by the type and the concentration of TiO2 dispersion employed.
