  • Toughness of polymer cement fibre reinforced concrete
    Šušteršič, Jakob
The specimens of polymer cement steel fibre reinforced concrete (PC SFRC) and polymer cement polypropylene fibre reinforced concrete (PC PFRC) as well as specimens of the appertained polymer cement ... concrete (PCC) and concrete without polymer were prepared for investigations at diffrent ages. First-crack flexural strength and deflection, toughness and toughness indices respectively, were calculated from load-deflection curves. Static and dynamic modulus of elasticity and some other mechanical properties of the concrete were obtained too. Toughness at first crack increases by addition of polymer into the fibre reinforced concrete. For that very reason, the calculated toughness indices of polymer cement fibre reinforced concrete (PC FRC), in accordance with ASTM 1018, are lower than that of fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) without polymer. Absorbed energy at the peak of load (at first crack) is very high in the case of PC FRC, so that the load can drop on the lower level than the load of FRC in post-crack stage.
