  • Economical optimization of energy-efficient timber buildings

    The paper presents optimization of economically efficient envelope composition for an energyefficient timber building designed in a prefabricated timber-frame macro-panel system. The approach is ... presented with case study of a single-storey house. The approach starts with selection of 4 components of envelope, roof, floor slab, windows and exterior walls. Each component is varied according of the influence on energy efficiency. With higher energy efficiency, the costs of envelope are higher, but the costs of heating and cooling is lover. The optimal envelope of building according to initial investment and future costs of heating and cooling costs are taken in consideration. The different combinations of components on the buildingćs energy demand are analysed with the aid of the PHPP 07 software. The result of the study is presented by a set of parameters showing different costs of building envelope from the point of initial investment for a selected energy demand of building and from point of future heating costs. Key decision factor is present value from the investment.
