  • Evalvacija jetrnih tumorjev s pomočjo nuklearno-medicinskih preiskav
    Grmek, Marko
Scintigraphic techniques, which are used in nuclear medicine, are noninvasive functional investigations. They are used for diagnostic evaluation of some hepatic mass lesion. Which scintigraphic ... examination will be used depend of diagnostic question. Liver blood-pool scintigraphy following the injection of 99mTc labeled erythrocytes is used for the detection of liver hemangioma. The specificity of this examination is above 90%. The sensitivity depends of the tumor size and position of the tumor in the liver. The sensitivity is up to 100% if the diameter of the hemangioma is more than 2 cm, otherwise is possible to detect hemangioma which diameter is above 1 cm. Liver scintigraphyperformed following the injection of a 99mTc-sulfur colloid is used for differentiation between focal nodular hyperplasia and remaining hepatic mass lesion. The differentiation between hepatocellular carcinoma and remaining lesion is possible using the combination of perfusion and gallium scintigraphy. 18FDG positron emission tomography is used for distinguishing between solitary liver metastasis and primary hepatic lesion. These examinations are in clinical practice used when other techniques with higher accuracy are not indicated or are not possible.
